Firstly if you have the older one, this one is upside. Besides that it's very secure and is able to latch easily. If drilled in correctly, it locks securely. Comes with own screws. One of the screws came deformed. Tip for the installer, replace one part of the two piece latch first for alignment. Never fully fasten the screws until all screws are in and do not over torque.

To install this latch, most likely you must remove some material from either the gate or the post. I used a router. After that, there are some surface preparation works: sanding, sealing, painting, etc. After that, the screwing in the parts into the gate/post was straightforward.I highly recommend this if you are either handy or have access to someone capable.

Solid and smooth. As with all latches with springs, there is the potential that the spring may someday fail.

This is a nice latch that was very easy to install. I gave it a 4 for durability because I haven’t had it long but I think it’ll be good for a long time. Good price for a good product.

Installation is pretty simple and you can find an online video showing installation which made it overall a quick process. The whole mechanism overall is sturdy and appears well built. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again when installing any new gate. I like that it can be locked from either side and really holds the gate firmly shut.

Didn’t line up right and didn’t fit old latch position but with some adjusting it works.. and heavy duty quality actually so should hold up nice. Looks good as well.

The latch is well built... However, the product is not long (deep) enough for fences that use 2x4 horizontal runners if you intend on locking it with a key lock. I had to install the short bar behind the vertical dog-ear and notch out the opposing latching/receiving side dog- ear. If the manufacturer had made the handle just a'lil longer it would not have been an issue at all.
