Eventually, the pad is ruined. Over the years, I've ruined three that way. I'm now on my 4th. So far, it's not squashed., but it will be. lol **Q: Why doesn’t the pad heat up in the front?...shouldn’t it heatup everywhere of the pad?** A: There is no heating wire in the front part. The front part only has some heavy beads on the margin to make it stay on your shoulder. **Q: How do you wash this thing? Do you leave that little attachment cord on?** A: I hand wash mine. You can disconnect cord and wash in cold water on gentle cycle.
