Don't be stupid and buy a standard (non-adjustable) ladder ever again.
I am currently renting a house which i am responsible for all the maintenance for. It is now winter time and i needed to clean my gutters and investigate putting up x-mas lights.I did not have a ladder prior to buying this one, but i am one of those people who buy quality, buy once when concerning tools and other items similar in nature.I drive a VW GTI and while i can fit a ton of stuff in my car i didnt want to deal with going to lowes or home depot and picking up a regular ladder that i only need SOMETIMES, but i have to store and waste space on 100% of the time.realistically i only needed an 8ft ladder to do the work i was planning to do, but this 13' works perfectly. By comparison, a standard step stool is about 2/3 the size of this model when it is all collapsed up. Without adjusting it and only opening it, it is basically a REALLY amazing and STURDY step stool/ladder. More than enough to work on most things in the interior of your house without extending it (light bulbs, cleaning fans, painting, etc)...that is assuming you have roughly standard height ceilings and not vaulted ones.Extended up to its highest setting (but still not flipped like a standard ladder) allows you to reach most single story gutters and do any kind of roof maintenance you would need. If you want to safely climb onto a single story roof you just fold the ladder 180 and you are all set.If you are viewing this, you are at least considering this ladder. I highly recommend you get one of these werner models which will fit the height you need. These are amazingly overkilled engineering. I am a heavy guy and most ladders aren't exactly rated for my weight (most are 220lbs or whatever). I have full confidence in the build quality in this ladder. If you buy a regular ladder and its within the height range of what these telescoping ladders can reach you made a poor decision. If standard ladders are VCR this is blu-ray.The clear exception is if you need a fiberglass ladder for safety reasons, which in that case please don't buy this ladder :)

Great multi function ladder
While looking to replace a standard 6' stepladder, I ran across this gem. Without even reading the manual, I was able to figure out how to convert it from a small 3' step ladder to the fully extended 11' extension ladder and back to the single storage setting. The ladder feels sturdy and every step up or down you feel comfortable knowing it's locked into place. The 13' height was tall enough to reach the roof of my single story home. It's also easy enough to convert to a 3' or 5' step ladder for smaller projects. My only con (or wish) is that the step ladder would max out at 6' instead of 5'. I could have upgraded to the MT-17, but that's just too much for me and it's really not a big deal. You will enjoy this purchase and if you catch it on sale, it will be a great value!

Getting High(er)
Needed a ladder, and loved the idea of having flexibility per application: small stepladder, tall straight ladder - *I* make the call.I've used this a number of times in the month or so since ordering it. Reached a lightbulb as a shorter stepladder. Hung xmas lights on the house in full 13 foot mode. Got up into the garage rafters as a 6 footer. I found it to be super easy to re-configure, light enough to handle by myself (and I'm a little dude), and sturdy and comfortable to be on.Suggestions: if you're working solo, lay it down when straightening. (instructions do suggest this) The scaffold configuration is interesting - I kept the instructions in the "instruction drawer" in case I ever need to actually use it - I don't think I'd remember how otherwise.Storage is a snap; it's fantastic how little space this ladder takes up.

Good ladder for home and DIY
Pros:- nice and compact when folded up- easy for one person to setup- ladder feels solid, even at full extensionCons:- a tad heavy, will need beefy brackets/hooks to hang- spring loaded locking parts can stick after extended timeI bought this ladder to use primarily around the house: painting, changing lights, getting on the roof, demo, other DIY. At this point, I've had no problem using this ladder at all. Compared to a typical, light-to-medium duty folding ladder, this is far better. This keeps me from having to purchase a separate extension ladder.I put this ladder to full extension while hanging christmas lights. I weigh 175 pounds and had the ladder at a 50 degree angle a few times. It had no problems holding my weight. I didn't move around a whole bunch while at the top of the ladder but going up and down was as smooth as it could be.Yes, I do believe this ladder is a tad heavy, especially for people who aren't used to carrying ladders around. That could be a problem for some, but I think the positives far outweigh this minor little negative. You do have a good number of spring loaded pieces that you'll constantly move as you use the ladder. I'm sure those could dry out after some time but it's probably nothing a bit of WD40 couldn't handle.Initially I thought this ladder was pricey (even though I got it on a black Friday deal) but once I realized that I essentially had a do-it-all ladder for the home with a smaller footprint...it turns out this is a pretty good deal.
