Five Stars for the Stove,Six Stars for the Author,Four Stars for the book.If you are not familiar with Walker Stoves Videos on YouTube, you'll be blown away with Matt's informative helpful videos. Matt explains the theories and practicalities of all types of rocket stoves. He also has kept up to date with new improvements. Go there and learn.I cringed at the price, then bought the book. Good decision on my part. After going through the materials list I had questions and went to Matt's website (rocketstoves dot com) and sent him an email. A few hours later I got a personal response answering all of my questions. Honestly, when I sent the contact form, I figured, it would be forever, if ever, to get an answer as that happens so often. He gave me a lower cost option on an internal part I had asked about (the preport secondary air riser). What is so impressive, while the air riser is not covered well in the book (reason for only four stars) Matt goes over it in the his later videos and sent me the updated drawings with material list. Can't beat that for customer service.Now that I'm at the materials ordering phase, I'm so glad I bought the book. The years of development hidden in the simple, easy to follow, diagrams is sure to have saved me hundreds of dollars of mistakes and worse, months if not years of crappy results. Since I'll be doing most of my cooking and all of my heating with this stove in a cabin in the Montana mountains, it's imperative I get it right the first time.Lastly, just in case you are not familiar with Matt's other stoves that are NOT in this book, he has a larger stove that would be excellent in a full size house for a family. My needs are for one person in a small 850 sq. ft. cabin so this book fits the bill perfectly.I realize this review may sound like I know Matt or am affiliated with his business. Nope, not at all. The first time I had any communication with him was the above described contact earlier today through his website customer service contact form.
