King LeoSoft Peppermint Stick Candy in a 15.5oz Gift Tin

I bought these peppermint sticks to remind me of my childhood. My dad was a big fan. I had forgotten how good peppermint can be. This is made with quality peppermint oil. Not only tasty, but also very good for digestion. Take a little time to read about the benefits of peppermint!

I kept King Leo in the house year-round for many years, although I haven’t bought a tin (until now) since probably 2000 or 2005. They are AWFUL. Nothing about the current product bears any resemblance to the old, and unfortunately I can’t get my money back for this absolutely inedible garbage that is going directly into my garbage. The current version of this candy is much smaller sticks that are individually wrapped. The sticks are rough and uneven, the colors are faded and the red runs into the white making them look as if they’ve been accidentally soaked with water, or maybe all licked and sucked on, before being wrapped. And the taste is HIDEOUS. Opening the tim, the initial smell is like sugar mixed with cleaning fluid, and that’s approximately how they taste. There is almost no peppermint flavor, just sugar and a chemical flavor that’s pure WRONG, leaving my family asking if they’ve been tainted or tampered with in some way. What a disappointment, especially as I’ve wasted $10 on un-eatable garbage, but also because King Leo was one of my favorite candies and I was so looking forward to getting this tin. This was a very expensive mistake, given that no one else will taste a stick because they smell so bad, and after tasting two I’m certainly not going to eat any of them. Yuck. Don’t waste your money. Old stale candy canes from last Christmas would be far far cheaper and still taste many times better than King Leo does today.

These soft pepermint sticks have been around a long time. My Great Great Grandpa kept them next to his easy chair. After farming cotton, corn, and beans,, and ginning cotton all day, he would come in and wash up for a country supper. After supper he would have a pipe and then two King Leo soft peppermint sticks. As a child I enjoyed th candy then played with the tins. These are great!

Good quality soft peppermint sticks. Individually wrapped. Did not come in a tin but a recyclable container. These sticks used to be larger in circumference in earlier times but, like everything nowadays, you get less product for your money. Still one of the best soft peppermint sticks company in business!

I have loved King Leo peppermint sticks since my grandfather gave me my first one. The product has not changed and it's still a favorite.I dinged it one star because the packaging is not as pictured. The "tin" is actually a pretty sturdy cardboard cylinder with a plastic lid. I bought it for myself so the packaging was not that important but it could be a let-down if you were expecting a nice tin can.

They do not come in a tin!!!! That was the main reason for the purchase, so I could send to my son that is stationed in the Middle East right now !! The cardboard will just get smashed in shipping no matter what I do. Not my first rodeo in shipping there!!! So I just spent over $15.00 for a cardboard container… I am very disappointed and as I read thru other comments I know I’m not the only one this has happened too. PLEASE change your marketing it’s very misleading.

I love these AMAZING King Leo Brand Peppermint Sticks sold by Candy Crate. They melt away in your mouth, from the first stick to the last. I've been ordering these from Candy Crate for years - first on their web site and now from Amazon. If you like peppermint, you should try these King Leo Brand Peppermint Sticks. I don't know how they make these peppermint sticks so soft, but make them they do - and they are mouth-watering. When I first ordered these peppermint sticks, I thought they would be hard like all the rest. Boy was I surprised. I put that first stick in my mouth and in just a few minutes, it was gone. Of course I generally break them in half before putting them in my mouth. That way I can savor them longer. The last order I placed in June 2012 was for 6 tins because I had run out of tins, and I hate to do that - leaving me without my favorite candy. And to top it off, these peppermint sticks are low in fat. What a bonus. Do watch out for the shipping costs because they tend to add up the more tins you order as these tins are heavy. I hope you enjoy these peppermint sticks as much as I do - I am constantly eating them throughout the day. I guess that is why I go through my boxes so quickly, and they may be high in sugar content, but I haven't gained a single pound from eating these sticks!
