ABUS 8353C Extreme Weatherproof Open Shackle Padlock

Useless, that the result after the scum bags spend couple of seconds on it.

Unless and until some ne'er do well attacks this, I can't be sure it's up to the job but it does have a decent security rating. and feels reassuringly sturdy and heavy. The keys (two supplied) are very large and easy to use. The shackle, which isn't sprung making it slightly awkward one-handed, doesn't have a protective 'shoulder' but that was my choice because the hasp I'm using it in is a funny size and shape. I like the plastic protector cap for the keyhole that should keep the rain and damp out. The lock looks serious and robust, which is half the battle sometimes I suspect. So far, so good.

Lock arrived as expected.I've purchased Abus products in the past due to there quality and when this arrived it looked and felt very sturdy, solid and weighted heavy in a good way.However, I was surprise that the shackle did not spring up when you turn the key to release it even though the key did turned. I was about to return the item back but then tried to pull the shackle whilst turning the key which did open, so not sure if this is faulty product or a unique feature. I thought this is odd as all my padlocks in the past the shackle automatically pops up when you turn the key. I have doubts this might be a problem when it is exposed to the weather in the long run as the shackle may not release when you pull it.I would give more stars but annoyed that you have to use both of your hands one to turn and the other to pull.

Ever thrown a padlock as hard as you can at a concrete surface to the point not once but at least twice? Well, I did that to this one. And could still open and close the padlock with the keys supplied with no difficulty. The plastic cover understandable slipped from the padlock but managed to pull it back into position and this has not interfered with the fundamental purpose of the padlock. I give it a full five stars for being able to withstand actual physical abuse and perform as if nothing happened.

Usual Abus quality, this is the third lock I have purchased over the last 5 years, all still functioning well outdoors, just an occasional spot of oil or graphite powder and they keep working as new, maybe a good idea to open and close now and then if used on outbuildings that stay locked for very long periods
