I just chatted with Scott's website and they said this product can be effective when used in this manner. I plan to apply it then AND next Spring. Most of the lawns in my development have been taken over by Poa Annua but I am still fighting the fight and hope to win or at least keep it to a minimum. **Q: I just applied Crabgrass preventer. How long must i wait to lay down seed to grow grass?** A: You don't. You wait till late summer to winter to seed. Crabgrass preventer will negatively affect seed for one, because it will be rooting right into the chemical barrier. If it even does come up it will not do well and likely die during the heat of summer unless you are in warmer areas.. Secondly Disturbing the soil will bring up crabgrass seeds.
