disrupting the internal logic of "the system"
What keeps a social system cohesive? Why do cultural problems persist after revolution/political overthrow/success? Why do norms persist?Just as applicable to corporate culture in a workplace as to political culture of a country. In the unobtrusive realm of political struggle, plan for tiny rebellions. Shock the system. The author presumes he is writing for a Marxist proletariat struggling for power. The book is just as valid to read for any type of popular discontent. It is utterly fascinating in light of the Hillary Clinton election loss in 2016.MY NOTES:How to thwart and frustrate power grabs?Symbolism of shows of resistance – even minor ones.Power-mad human resources officials – how to disrupt them and assert individualism?Public gatherings are frightening to officialsPopulations are subject to the whims of odious officials – experience this as personal humiliation and look to strike backSimply describing what you are being commanded to do/to give up – the public assertion that “this is wrong” -- empowers the population and limits the authorities/governmentFrom “raw” anger to “cooked” indignation 119Where?- Secret or unauthorized assemblies- Churches or reading groups- Pubs and taverns- Black market- Graffiti- Social signaling on vehicles (itinerant nature – moving around, seen by many)- Subgroups in workplaces- Subgroups at universities – much mischief is possible. The uppergroups overreact.- Dialect and slang, coded meanings “Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself”- Strengthened if there are thick social barriers and cultural barriers protecting the elites- Elites live in a bubble and are unaware of the social currents (describes election 2016)- Freak out the uppergroup: make it OBVIOUS (prison race 139) (code an activity with political meaning 140) – 4chan ha!- Disguise 149-151- Hong Kong protests come to mind – spontaneous public gatherings, coordinated & anonymous, impromptu hand signal communicationWe need new folk tales – tricksters – we need an alternative to Hollywood & media storytellers

Good text/dreadful copy
Scott's 'Domination' is a modern classic from which anyone could learn to read the 'transcripts' which both sides of an unequal relationship use to maintain status. Theoretical, but also practical. However, amazon's seller sent me a supposedly 'Used - Good' copy that was on its fourth round, apparently as a used college texctbook, highlighted multiple times, with a spine falling apart -- worth 50 cents at best. BEWARE!!

Resistance without being murdered
Loved this book on Domination and the Arts of Resistance, and how as Humans we express our hatred of the authorities who rule over us. Most of the big shots ignore this resistance because they don't care and they don't understand how it all works. This is a great book on the psychological benefits of being out of step with oppressive authority no matter where it is.
