It's a great item in terms of build. Shipped fast. Heavy. Not all all worried about it breaking. Easy to clean.Here's the thing, better for a dog, or at least a cat with a VERY narrow face/long tongue.My cats are under ten pounds, so not big at all. When used with dry food, a heard TONS of teeth clanking off of the ceramic. My cats never tried to BITE the bumps, but think about it; ten year of that banging to their tooth would cause problems.

This is a good quality, heavy ceramic dish. I use it for both wet and dry food. The cat wasn't thrilled when I first gave him food with it but he was hungry so he stopped meowing and me and finally started eating. I do put my cat's food bowls inside of a melamine tray to prevent spillage on the floor and it also helps this plate/bowl from moving around too much. Because although it is heavy, it does get pushed around a bit while he is trying to get the food out of the nooks and crannies. The melamine tray also helps because when I used this for dry food he would use his paw to knock the dry food on to the tray and then eat it from there. I would definitely recommend this if you're trying to slow down your cat's eating.

Ellie no longer throws up daily like she used to. We changed our cats diets to a more tummy friendly food which helped a little, but after introducing this food bowl, she no longer throws up (only sometimes out of spite). I think she enjoys the small amount of work she has to do to pull a piece of food out of the bowl. The weight is very nice too because this means the other cat can't just come in and flip the bowl and eat everything.

This slower feeder is a godsend! Our cat, Matcha, eats so quickly that she makes herself sick. In addition, we tried two mat-style feeders (she is on a wet food diet) and she ate pieces of both the plastic and the silicone mat! Finally, a feeder that is perfect for wet or dry food and it really slows her down so she doesn't get sick and it is easy to clean. Hooray!
