Q: what is the diameter and height of the pot?

The pan diameter is 10" w/out the cover and 13 1/4" with cover to the end of handles. The height is 5" without the cover and about 6 3/4" with the cover to the top of the handle.

Q: Is the lid also oven safe? It seems risky to put glass in a hot oven

Many years ago I worked as the foreman of the kiln room for the Bennington Potters. We fired the glazed pottery at 2,180 degrees F. to fix the glaze (glass) to the pottery. I doubt very seriously that you will ever have to fear your oven getting anywhere near that hot. Q: Are the handles hot to the touch, or do you have to wear oven mitts when cooking on top of the stove?

Only when you grasp them... Seriously, this is a great pan. Sturdy, well made, top fits perfectly, there are volume markers on the inside. A keeper. The handles are not insulated, but stovetop the handles don't seem to get too hot to touch. Taking it out of a hot oven is a different matter.
