Beautiful and easy to use
I LOVE this product! I researched for a long time before I bought it -- I wanted the right color of gold, one that was "thick" enough, and a product that would hold up over time. I have been restoring a very damaged metal statue and needed a good paint. It had to be a rub so the indented designs in the statue wouldn't get filled with paint. I bought this even though it was pricey. I painted/rubbed this whole 2.5 foot statue, front and back, and even being generous probably used less than a measuring tablespoon and have at least 2/3s of the jar left for other projects.Color: The color is nice. I would have liked it to be a bit "warmer " but it is a nice color of gold. It is not shiny and also not matte -- it is sort of a satin finish. The gold doesn't "sparkle".Application: The paint itself is a rub that is easy to rub on with a finger (the instructions say to use a glove, but if you do you can't manipulate the paint as well), piece of cloth, or a brush.Drying time: It dries in an hour or so to touchable, but it needs to sit a few days to be sure it is set. When using, it is important to take a little bit out of the jar and put it in a container or piece of waxed paper that you can throw away. That bit needs to be used in about an hour because it starts to harden and becomes harder to use. The pain adhered nicely to a rust converter that I painted the statue with first. If you paint for a long period right out of the jar, you risk letting the paint get too hard and you won't be able to use it again.Clean-up: I used Speedball Pink Soap. Someone suggested Dawn Dishwashing Detergent but it didn't work. The Pink Soap dud the trick on my brushes, not my hands. It wears off my hands after about a day.Other uses: I also used this on some paper. You can burnish it to a shine on paper but I don't seem to be able to do it on the statue.Overall: I think it is a good quality product and a good value for your money. Though it is a tiny amount, it goes a very long way!

Gorgeous
After a lot of research I decided on this brand even though it’s a bit pricier than others. I found it very easy to apply with a small flat brush. You can use your fingers as well if you want a more antiquing look. It does wash off your hands easily. I ended up applying two layers, allowing a few days to dry and cure between the coatings, and it works but you have to be gentle and dab rather than rub or brush on that second layer. It is a finishing wax so don’t think you’re able to do a poly or or other sealant on it. Sticks on well to metal and painted furniture. The gold isn’t yellow but more of a satin old school, not orange like a brass either. It’s quite beautiful.

Cannot praise more highly
This product is splendid. I needed some true gold gild for a carving I did and this fit the bill far better than I ever could have imagined. It handles nicely - a bit painstaking in small places but a small brush and some patience took me to the finish line. I glazed over it with a black glaze to make it look old, and it handled that well. Dried in fair time but remained workable while applying (brush did not harden while I worked for several hours). As for the smell, I was bent over working quite closely with the stuff for hours as I said. I work with an extraction fan nearby and I had the running in an abundance of caution but that was truly not needed. It's no worse than any shoe polish and I got used to it quickly - I'm extremely sensitive to smell and get headaches from perfume so that gives you an idea of my olfactory sensitivity. Truly not a problem at all.It also finishes nicely under a good seal / protector. Ultimately I am beyond pleased with this exceptional gild.

Instant update to hardware
This kitchen cabinet is 19th century. I wanted to keep original hardware and this gliding wax gave it an instant update. The whole job took less than two hours. There is some shine that rubbed off the next day when I used a Clorox wipe. Will see how holds up. But overall happy with results.

Best stuff around
The color is a perfect gold. Not too yellow and not too orange. The quality is awesome. As far as the smell, it’s definitely in your best interest to go outside where there’s proper ventilation.

Where has this product been all my life ?!
I was looking for a product to put onto plaster molds with fine detail, that wouldn't water down the detail, this was outstanding! I also used it on a metal black display easel to antique it and it looks amazing. Easy to apply, cleans up pretty well, and looks a lot like goldleaf without the work and expense.
