Simple bow. I purchased this as a prop for a film role and it tightens and loosens properly. Can play on an average violin without harm. Quality is sufficient for the price. Great for a beginner or new learner, or a violinist who's been away for some time!

The only possible way this may be usable is if I learn to rehair it or get it rehaired. It arrived with broken hairs, and after rosining for an hour, it still barely makes a sound except with a lot of pressure. My old bow needs barely a touch on the strings to sing. I very much suspect that the hair is nylon, not horsehair. I took one of the broken strings and put it in a flame. Not a whiff of burning hair. I see that someone suggested sand paper. I may give that a go.
