Operates just like Vise-Grips. It is well made and will take a beating. Great for freshwater fishing. Only issues with this are.... It is slick and hard to hold with bare hands. I tried them with my Glacier fishing gloves and still were a little slick (going to rough them up a little with a file for better grip). Once you lock them down, some people might have hard time opening them. When they lock they stay locked,which I like. Don't get me wrong, I like them. The issues are more towards my preference.
