It doesn't look like it has room to write numbers for speed dial option; does it?

Well there's little Slot, or sort of writing pad that slides out of the right side of the phone you can put your phone numbers on. I think its pretty neat And then you canslide this little note pad back into the phone when your done.

Does the speakerphone also amplify to 60 db--the same as the hand-held receiver?

I'm not sure about 60 dB, but the speaker is very loud, and has a volume control that we keep at about 50%, she's happy with that. It's very loud.

Where is the user manual????

The phone should come with a user's manual. (mine did) If yours didn't, I would notify the merchant and ask them to correct the problem.
