Just bought 3 of these last year and I'm really pleased with the way they handle big carp.A lot lighter than my old Okuma Aventa which weight a ton and make a great combo with my Shimano TX2 rods. Very smooth in drill with 13kg carp (around 29 pounds), hope could test them with bigger this season.Even if my old Okuma Aventa was 10k, they weighted more and were bigger then 14k Ultegra Ci4+. I was surprised they actually have a smaller overall size compared to those, and better fit into my reel cases.Good build quality, robust and offers great feel when handling in drill, so smooth and precise.Since I usually fish relatively big lakes, not ponds, and I only do casting, this combo serves me well when I need to reach 100-120m distance. Because of the lakes regulations I mostly need to use 0.35 / 0.37 line but I guess if I could use 0.25-0.28 with braid leader, I could get better results easier, just by changing line if I need to.Bought one from Amazon.de and other two from a local store...haven't seen any differences in quality. But boy I waited a long time to be back in stock. Also I couldn't find anything close to them to other manufacturers at this price tag to fit my needs.Overall really pleased with them, of course there are better choices, but also pricier. I'm not going out that often to feel the need of better reels.Tight lines ppl.

I used Penns SS 9500 for more than 15 years (I take care off my stuff). They were great reels, but very heavy. After reading reviews about the Shimano 14000 decided to buy two of them. A-m-a-z-i-n-g reels! Strong as the old fashion Penns SS 9500 (when they were made in USA, not china) and light, very light. Rather buy Japanese then chinese. Anyway Shimano is a great brand.

Got this reel to replace my shimano long cast lc after more than 10 years old got some diawa torments 5500 but there not up to the job on big waters where casting far is the difference between catching and blanking the ci4 14000 are Gr8t nice looking and should b up to the job iv got centery 13ft rods 3.75lb test curve rods going linear fisheries next week so can put these reels to the test if any one is looking for a gd big pit reel these are the ones for u the line lay out it brilliant give em 5 Star s but iv not use them as yet!!!!! I have used them now so just to say yes yes these reels are Gr8t better than I thought they would b main feature the line lay is the best comes off the spool nice with the big spools 5 Star you won't go far wrong with a set of these silly smooth ect I love em
