I got to chapter 3 and decided it was a classic example of vague filler. Everything could have been summed up in a single page with suitable graphics. If you don't value time, then this is the book for you. I'd say the target audience is for 7 year olds and below.

Engineers should not be left alone to write these books. Sooo boring. No doubt the info is all there, but one has to trawl through the tedious stuff to get to it. I have fallen asleep many times while trying to read this. I couldn't even imagine having a beer with ol' Wendell.

This book is a marvel, and written for anyone getting into Cisco Networking. I was a fan of Todd Lammle when studying Network+, but his CCENT material was very off putting. I purchased this as a replacement, and it was like night and day. Shorter chapters to digest the content easier, simpler wording, and reintroduction of some subjects throughout the book to keep your mind refreshed on what you learned previously. I did not end up taking the exam as my priorities had shifted towards the end of the book, but I am still very glad to have read it.

This is one of the most reliable and well-structured resources for CCNA 200-301 preparation.
