I have been teaching/tutoring algebra for 10 years (kindergarten through college), even though my credential is for high school English. With adoption of Common Core standards, I find myself working more and more with groups of parents who want to know what they can do at home to help their children succeed in math. "The Curriculum Focal Points for Prekindergarten through Grade 8 Mathematics", is a great resource, a simple yet complete map of what should be covered at each grade level. Each grade level has a 1-page summary, easy to photocopy and hand out to concerned parents, and/or easy for me and all alternative-school teachers to use in mapping out a more cohesive curriculum. This book does not include any "how-to" material. There is already a wealth of how-to material out there once you know where to focus. So often in the past, math was taught as a collection of separate skills without this necessary overview. This thin book provides the focus, within a comprehensive overview. It is one of my five most-used resources.

Too little information
Not worth the money. Very slim on how to incorporate.would have liked ideas on how to stress their importance to staff.
