Great for musical instrument gig bag repair!
After 15 years of frequent use, the zipper on the soft case for my upright bass had begun splitting open/coming unzipped behind the slider, so I ordered this kit to replace the slider. My 'gig bag' is much like a sleeping bag that I carry the instrument in; it's padded and has a heavy gauge zipper running the length of the bag. This kit included the large-size replacement slider I needed and a 'seam ripper' to cut the stitches at the base of the broken zipper to facilitate the replacement. It also includes two heavy gauge needles and some heavy nylon thread, which made re-stitching a breeze. I'm sure it would be great for fixing a tent or sleeping bag, even out in the field. The kit contains several medium- to- large sliders. Buying this kit was a cheap, easy, and durable fix for a bag that would have cost me at least two hundred dollars to replace, and was certainly cheaper than taking it to a repair shop. Watch a youtube video on replacing zipper pulls if you are having trouble, but it really is a pretty easy thing to do.This is a good repair kit! Thanks, Gear Aid!

Nice handy kit !
I had both the zipper heads torn out of a 29 inch American Tourister roller bag when the luggage arrived in the carousel after a flight. The bag was clearly unusable (only I know how I made it from airport to hotel) - and I decided to plunk 10 bucks to try out this kit, before getting a new bag for 70-80 bucks. This kit has everything you need, and a novice like me could repair the bag in half an hour! It is fully usable now and I saved atleast $50-60 which I would have otherwise used for a new bag.I still have 3 zipper heads and the full sewing kit to see me out of another calamity!Try this before you throw away something for only a broken zipper / head...

Review of the Outdoor Sports Zipper Repair Kit
I bought this zipper repair kit hoping that the kit would have a replacement zipper that would work on my men's St. John's Bay winter coat.Unfortunately none of the zippers in this kit were the correct size for my winter coat.My zipper pull had broken off of the zipper so I was hoping to just replace the zipper itself since the rest of the zipper mechanism was fine.My winter coat zipper was an Ideal # 5 J zipper according to what was stamped on the metal zipper body.Luckily I was able to bend the remnants of the zipper pull back together so that the zipper pull could latch onto the remnants of the zipper body and allow me to still use the zipper pull.So if you have an item that has an Ideal brand # 5 J zipper on it then this zipper repair kit won't have a replacement in it for you to use.I'm keeping this zipper repair kit in case I have some other zippered items that needs a new zipper and that replacement zipper happens to be in this kit. This zipper repair kit has 5 metal zippers in it.3 of the 5 zippers have metal pull tabs on each side of the zipper so you have 2 pulls per zipper instead of 1 pull per zipper.I'm assuming these double pull zippers would be used on something like a sleeping bag so the sleeping bag could be opened from the inside or outside. There are 2 other zippers that have only 1 pull tab on them.I don't see any numbers stamped on any of the zippers in this repair kit, just the same letters on all of the zippers, which are "YKK", so this makes it hard to tell which zipper is the # 5 zipper, the # 8 zipper, or the # 10 zipper. The cardboard packing in the repair kit says that the kit contains the following:2 Zipper sliders coil, double # 8, [2 pulls per zipper]1 Zipper slider coil, double # 5, [2 pulls per zipper]1 Zipper slider coil, single # 10, [1 pull per zipper]1 Zipper slider tooth, single # 5, [1 pull per zipper]1 Seam ripper1 Bobbin # 69 Olive Green thread2 Sewing needles # 16The company that made this zipper repair kit, is the McNett Corporation, and the name of this repair kit was called Gear Aid.The UPC label on this repair kit says: 0 21563 80071 5I hope this information helps you decide if this repair kit will work for you.

Easy & Inexpensive Fix
I had a broken zipper on my backpacking tent. I figured I would give this kit a try and I'm glad I did. The instructions were detailed and the quality of the items in the kit was good. It took less than 10 minutes to make the repair and the zipper is working as good as new. When compared to the cost of a new zipper and the time to put one in place, this was a real bargain. As an added bonus, I have the remaining sliders and pulls in reserve for the next zipper that requires repair.

Not Everything You Need!
I need to repair a zipper on a leather jacket, as I need to replace the pin (the bottom of the zipper that you put into the pull). It's a heavy YKK zipper, and the kit says "Everything you need."Well, not quite. Sure, there are plenty of zipper heads, a seam ripper, thread, and needles, but no pin. I would have liked to get a clearer list of what was in the package before purchasing it, and I should have listened to the other reviews that said it was clearly for sleeping bags and tents...because it is.That being said, I'll still give points to them for that. The kit is pretty complete if you want to fix a zipper that is sewn into another piece of fabric at the bottom (like a tent), just not one that comes apart (like a jacket). The instructions are even printed on waterproof paper.Made in Japan

Saved me Big Bucks.
A few people chuckled when I told them I ordered this product, but the laugh is on them now after I used the repair kit to repair a Zipper on my Golf bag. I figured the paying for a new zipper would be around $40.00 and a new bag like the one I have would be over $150.00. The reapir kit was easy and less than 3 minutes I was ready to go.Great product that works.

Wrong Description
I bought this to repair zipper on a ski jacket. There were several problems with this item.1. It states that "excellent selection of ykk zippers". This is false there are only 5 zippers total. 1 size 5 and the other 4 are HUGE and double sided clearly for a sleeping bag.2. Its says 9 zipper but there are only 5.3. This repair kit is clearly for outdoor equipment and should have that stated in description. In summery if you looking for sleeping bag repair kit this is it. If not buy some other kit.

Life saver for screened gazebo!
The zipper slider broke on one side of our screened gazebo. We were told that we had to buy an 8' x 8' zippered replacement screen for over $90 plus shipping. We decided to try this zipper repair kit and it worked perfectly. We used the #5 double clasp slider and it was an exact fit. With the easy instructions included in the kit, it only took 15 minutes to complete the repair. Great to keep the mosquitos out of the gazebo now!

Práctico kit de calidad.
Te saca de un apuro y ya no necesitas llevar a reparar casi ninguna cremallera, lo puedes hacer tú mismo. Recomiendo.

Good quality YKK zippers.
Good quality zippers, but very few, i would say only two are usable, changing zippers was an average difficulty, hopefully they will last.

Good Idea, Not Enough Sizes
Helpful kit for common sizes. But none of them fit my jacket zipper even though it's marked "5". I'll probably use it for something else eventually when one of my others inevitably malfunctions. Ease of use depends on the specific installation--it could require some sewing.
