The Finer Edge: Crocheted Trims, Motifs & Borders

I love Krisin Omdahl's work. Her instructions are clear, the photos are great, with good example projects. The first week I got the book, I solved a "too short" skirt problem with a beautiful edging. Came out great. The ideas and patterns in this book are beautiful and the possibilities are as wide as your imagination. Definitely recommend for the serious crochet enthusiast.

There are fabulous choices and intriguing designs in this book for edgings.

Every pattern says which way it is worked (side to side, top to bottom, bottom to top, or some other way), has a diagram (which makes understanding the overall structure much easier), and is worked in actual crochet big enough to see and in varied cool colors as well. The written out instructions are also clear. The projects in the back are not the reason to buy this book as they are not nearly as nice as the edgings presented in the beginning. Only the "Moebus" scarf/shawl even slightly appeals to me, but the edgings themselves are different enough from other books that I consider this an excellent purchase!

This helped me crochet my very first border. It is on the ends of a scarf I have made for my niece and makes the scarf look more expensive.

I was pleased with the variety of edging patterns and already have a list of which ones I plan to make.The ideas for using the edgings in new and different ways really intrigues me. As a person who always changes things up, it has set my mind to work on a lot of new project ideas. The edgings are great, but there aren't a huge number of them. If you're not a person who thinks outside the box, but are just looking for patterns, you may be happier with a different edging book with more patterns and less ideas.

This author supplies written, graphs and pictorial instructions. Her presentation is clear and readable. Even the beginner crochet can learn from the graphs a WIDE variety of borders for projects. If you are a beginner that has a slightly lopsided afghan, don't throw it out! Salvage your work with a large border, which will help hide and balance the imperfection. I have purchased a few of Omdahl's books and I have not been disappointed yet.

I crochet tons of baby afghans and love the book because I can use the same inside pattern and embelish the edges with beautiful borders. Also I love the fact that it is on my Kindle and I don't have to cary a bunch of books with me when I leave home. I always carry my crochet projects with me and having the book on Kindle is wonderful.

One of my most favorite crochet reference books ! Lots of interesting and different edgings that will give your next project that "WOW" factor ! I love that it has the written pattern and diagrams for each. It has helped me learn how to read both types of patterns.
