Ranger 2995DX—CF
This Ranger 2995 radio is awesome with its ease of operation and great looking design. Dual band ability with 150 watts of power, really nice new color meters and dual mounted fans for cooling. It’s simply a fun radio to enjoy for years to come.

Great Kick Butt Radio
Got it last Sunday, easy to put 11 meter chip in, mine was taped to bottom, remove bottom (so you don't void warranty) mount id on board near the middle (3 pins) put chip in ,bottom back on and plug it in, easy. Great radio, use a good antenna, talked Florida to Australia last night. Expensive but worth it.

Love this radio, but has some flaws...
As many others probably have, I've had my eye on this radio for a long time but the price was always off putting. Well given the price increase and seeming increasing scarcity of new "export" base station radios, I ended up buying one. First off, this radio does the job, and does it well. Since I purchased, it has been my main radio. RX is a lot better than I was expecting given the many complaints, but it's leaps and bound above other branded radios in the same category that I own. TX does pretty well also, made some 1000+ mile contacts recently, and was able to hear a playback of my sound. A better mic will be my next step as the stock mic is not great, but works well enough. To me, this would be a perfect all around 10-12 meter base radio if not for a few, but serious flaws:First issue I noticed is that this radio (New in box) would trip any gfi outlet as soon as plugged in. Really not impressed by that at all. Because I'm not patient, I plugged into a non gfi outlet to test it and everything works fine but still not reassuring.Second issue, and probably the most serious, is spurs at various power output positions. On my radio, anywhere between 25% and 75% power puts out serious spurs, taking an swr of 1.5 and driving it up to around 5. I have not seen my radio on a spectrum analyzer, but there are plenty of videos on youtube showing this on basically all rci radios. Due to my antenna type and location, I run a TVI filter mostly out of precaution to prevent interfering with the neighbors, and when I play with the output power while keyed, you can literally hear the TVI filter ringing at points in that 25-75% power range. So basically, the radio can be ran at minimal or nearly maximum power. This really isn't an issue as the on board psu fans and the heat sink cooling fans take care of any heat issues. After working it out a bit, it gets a bit warm over ambient temp but definitely not hot. Regardless, Ranger should have done a much better job of getting the spurious emissions under control.Final issue is that the cooling fans introduce a constant humming on the radio RX. The hum stays constant regardless of volume so you can just turn the volume up to cover it, but it is extremely prominent in headphones. I even added ferrite chokes to the fan power cord as well as the radio main 120v cord and it made no difference. If you keep your TX down, you can just unplug the fan and the noise is eliminated. Powering the fans externally might also eliminate this issue but I have yet to try this.Overall, I must say I'm very happy with this radio, even with said listed issues. Super easy to operate and does the job. It's very easy to convert to 11m (CB) if that's your flavor, though illegal to transmit with this radio on those frequencies. It comes with the little plug for that option that simply plugs into the back of the display board and it's ready to go. I just wish Ranger invested a bit more in QC with this radio and it would be perfect. In the end, I would recommend, but only for those willing to take on the issues and understand the fact that this radio has quirks.

Review for the Ranger 2995dxcf ham rig
Very nice looking radio and it indeed puts out 150 watts PEP ssb and 60+ watts AM And FM. I tried it on CW and the full break-in CW is great! Puts out 60 watts on CW. This has a VERY quiet receiver!Echip was included and does not void warranty when installed. The Echip was packed with the mic. Now the radio covers 24 to 32 Mhz continously. I love the ability to get on both the 10 and 12 meters bands. You will love this radio it sounds great! Excellent build quality!Beautiful piece of ham gear. I wired an Astatic 878 base mic to it and it sounds great on the air! I love this radio! This radio has a built in AC switching power supply so that is an item you won't have to buy saving you money there! Normally the fan upgrade is a $50 item but it is included here at no additional cost! This is a lot less expensive than a regular new piece of ham gear if all you want is to operate just the 10 and 12 meter bands, all you need is a good antenna!I would buy from Mindconnection in a heartbeat, they treated me great and shipping was fast and communication was excellent!

ILLEGAL TO USE FOR TRANSMSSION IN THE US, FCC NON-COMPLIANT!
This radio is FCC NONcompliant for use in the US due to the ease of modification with the included frequency expander echip. Made in Malaysia too...What the heck? Now I'm stuck with an expensive piece I can only use for testing purposes...legally that is.

Radio review
Just hooked radio up to Solarcon A-99. Reciever works good, haven't talked on it yet. SWR 1.1 to 1.5 across the board. Fan noise with headphones is UNBEARABLE!!!. 4 stars because of the fan.
