Really necessary if you are going to tow a 5th wheel travel trailer. You can buy this as on option from the vehicle manufacturer for a mere $35, and why the auto companies don't include them as standard equipment on 3/4T and larger pickups is simply astounding... after all, towing is why many people buy such trucks. So since the engineers, marketing, and sales people at Ignorant Motors fail to realize their customer's typical needs, we can at least buy this aftermarket item.Once you get around the "trauma" of having to put a 2" hole in the side of your pickup's bed, this harness installs quite easily. I picked this particular one over the others on the aftermarket place because it had a molded right angle plug, which seems to be shallower. As well, if you need additional space behind the bed-fender, they throw in a little adapter to give you a bit more space.Then you simply plug the other end into the existing trailer wiring harness (you Chevy guys buying a LT trim level need to have the optional towing pkg).Note that even though this is branded as a Fulton, it is actually a Bargman brand (as it says Bargman on the connector's door). At any rate, both Fulton and Bargman are subsidies of Cequent, so it is not surprising.

This is an extremely easy way to put a 5th wheel plug in the bed of your truck. Everything is plug and play with no cutting, splicing or soldering whatsoever. I would have given it a 5 star rating were it not for the fact that the hinge pin started rusting after the first rain fall. If they made it out of coated steel or better yet stainless, it would be a 5 star all the way.
