Sarah Raven's Gardening Year

Fabulous book on gardening
I own a lot of garden books. A lot. I’ve always considered Martha Stewart’s “Month by Month Gardening” to be the best, until this book by Sarah Raven. It is just so full of IN DEPTH knowledge and skills for us to learn it just boggles the mind. I know a lot about gardening and I still read this in small segments and just try to take in the words and the skill or information she is teaching. I loved it so much I immediately sent one to my Mom for her to also enjoy. What a treat to sit down with this book. I actually have mine on my Kindle. I’m getting older and the ability to enlarge the pictures and really see all the detail and pick out plants she is discussing is just invaluable to me.I now own her new cookbook, “Garden Cookbook” which I’ve yet to sit down and read, the book “A Year Full of Veg…again another AMAZING book and her “ A Year Full of Containers”, which is also just a fabulous book on gardening, and on containers. If you want to actually learn something and get beautiful pictures that inspire you, get these books. The info in these is geared to her climate in England but the cultural info and when to start your plants can all be adjusted to fit the climate here in the United States. I heartily recommend these and though I’ve bought most of these on the Kindle except for the new cookbook, I will be getting these in hard copy too. They are that good.

One of the best gardening books I own!
I can't believe how amazing this book is. It is organized so well (with the flowers in bloom each month as well as the tasks to do each month). The photographynamd variety suggestions are so helpful. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to enjoy blooms all year long.

Ricco di spunti e idee
Comprato per la mia compagna. Sebbene sia adattare per le stagioni italiane, il libro è ricco di spunti e idee riguardo i fiori, nonché le attività da svolgere durante l'anno. È super entusiasta!

Nice book but with errors
I was looking forward to this book since Sarah Raven is a competent gardener, and I like her style of vibrant color combinations. However, for a book at this price, and a seasoned writer like Sarah Raven it is inadmissable to have faulty information. In the important section of the book where she recommends her best plants, I was very disapointed to have come across four plants in my favorite plant groups which have the wrong description/wrong photo:1) sweet pea "Erewhon". An eyecatching popular pink blue sweet pea which is sold with the correct photo on her website2) The color of sweet pea "Sir Jimmy Shand" in the photo looks off. It should be blue lilac not red mauve.3) rosa "Queen of Denmark". A famous once blooming old Alba rose and definitely a rich pink4) rosa "Ferdinand Pichard" is a Hybrid Perpetual even if Graham Thomas initially classed it as a Bourbon. She should know that. This is sloppy and not acceptable! What else is faulty? Where was her proofreading? It makes her chapter sections of "Best Plants" not worth 5 cents.
