I bought rubber-backed stair treads for my hardwood stairs because my older dog started having trouble navigating the bare steps and slipped a few times. The treads were okay but did move a bit and I had to keep adjusting them. I didn't feel they were secure enough so I bought this rug tape. I cut and placed two strips on each tread, front and back edges as recommended. The tape is very sticky but if you take your time, it is easy to work with. It stuck very well on the rubber backing and on the step and after pushing on and rubbing the tread a bit on the step, it was quite secure. Since I only used this about a week ago, I can't speak to whether the stickiness will hold up over time. It says there is no residue if you remove the tape but it is not a concern because I have decided to always keep treads on the stairs for safety. My dog is much more comfortable/confident going up and down the stairs so I am happy with the results.

I loved that it was super easy to rip, didn’t need any scissors. The stickiness is to a whole new level, so just make sure your tape doesn’t restick to the tape while you’re pulling it. It took my two tries before I finally managed to just rip the tape , stick it to the carpet and then take out the plastic! Works great! And for the price is a win win!

Effective and easy to remove with no residue.

Carpet on carpet. Very sticky. Little tricky to put down but I took it slow and placed on carpet first then peeled back. Working well. Rug stays in place now.
