These mallets have a dot at the seem of the felt at the playing surface. That dot is a raised burr that is sharp and damages the drum heads. I'm not sure if this was an error in the pair I received or if they are all this way.Like the handle and the feel but absolutely cannot deal with a mallet that damages timp heads.
