This is the second one I have purchased for my husband. He uses them in our automobiles. He has 2 herniated discs in his lower back and this cushion helps to keep the sciatic nerve from flaring up and causing back and leg pain as he travels.He has had the first one for over 10 years. It still gives good support.

Liked the gel foam but I'd like a thicker pad for my old bones

I sit in my desk chair several hours per day. My otherwise comfortable chair is suffering from thinning padding on the seat, so I bought this cushion to get more life out of the chair. I was immediately pleased with the results, and now one month later the cushion still seems in fine shape. It is not super-duper comfortable like I was hoping, but at least it does cushion the hardness that I feel protruding up through the padding of my chair. The gel seems to work great at holding its shape (note that the cushion is not shaped like in the picture but is in reality more flat). Maybe if it was a little thicker then I would have gotten that "ahhhh" super comfortable seat I was hoping for. I give 4 stars because it is doing what it's supposed to do, just not spectacularly.Edit: November, about 10 months later -- still using this cushion and am really pleased with how well it has held up! I think I like it more now than when I first got it. :)

I nought this same product back in 2006 & it was amazing with gel so comfortable you forgot you were sitting on it. I always used it in my car & on international flights. The one I ordered was not comfortable the moment I sat on it & the inside cushioning was different. I was very sad. I retuned it immediately.

I use this at work for 9 hours everyday and it's awesome. I've had it for a year now and performs/looks as if new. I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews for this. I weigh about 170 lbs and the difference it makes every morning that I sit on it is honestly worth 20x what I paid. When you have back pain, etc., of which I have multiple issues from my past, you know exactly what I mean. I do wish it was just slightly larger but I'm still highly pleased and will likely buy another one for other purposes in the future. While it's not as curved as it looks in the picture, it's totally irrelevant too. After sitting on it for a few hours, it does look like the picture. THIS IS NOT JUST A NORMAL CUSHION!!!!!!!! I have normal pillows and cushions at home and I assure you this is a high-tech product that actually does what the manufacturer claims it does. It will put a smile on your face; it does mine every morning at 8:00 A.M. I'm only writing this review b/c I was previously diswayed by the negative reviews and I don't want anyone else to be without an excellent product. :)

The cushion comes with an insert saying that the off-gassing is normal and will subside within two days. This is absolutely not true. I found no reduction in the truly offensive odor in a week. I even put it outdoors on the porch. Since I was looking for comfort, I tried putting the cushion into a plastic bag, just to try the feel. My advice to others would be to keep looking for an alternative to this product. There is nothing special about the design. It is not a fraction as comfortable as the pictures suggest, and the smell is not just obnoxious but probably wretchedly unhealthy. I returned it, at my expense, and received a refund.

I was hoping that this item would be softer. I guess it's a good thing that it's not, in general, since I'm much smaller than most people who have to make orthopedic adjustments. I'm pretty small (short, skinny), and I have issues sitting on hard surfaces because the combination of being bony-butted and having finicky nerves makes the lateral surface of my legs go numb. Great, so much for studying in libraries! I got this cushion so I could sit for long periods of time in places that don't have fancy ergonomic chairs for people with broken bodies like mine. It does the job, but it's not as squishy as I was hoping it would be. I think it would be great for most other people, though! It is certainly supportive.However, this thing SMELLS. I mean, it really smells. I think I've smelled this smell before, maybe in other gel-based items (maybe a different seat cushion? I do not remember). In any case, the smell is very overwhelming. I am hoping it'll dissipate in a few days.
