National Parks of America 1: Experience America's 59 National Parks (Lonely Planet)

I enjoy reading travel books before big trips so I can get ideas about what sights are best to see. Hoping to make it some of these parks soon, I was happy to see this book listed in a magazine article about travel. This book does not disappoint and is COMPLETELY worth the money. It has gorgeous pictures and lots of helpful information. Of course, you can always dig deeper if you decide to go to any of these parks, but this book will give you many great initial ideas and may even spark your interest in visiting less well-known parks, as it did for me. I spent several weeks leisurely reading through this book and it will now make a fantastic coffee table book.

Christmas present along with Your Guide to the National Parks for my 2 sons. This one is a hardcover. Came sealed in plastic but I am very curious! Now these pictures are breathtaking! There's itineraries and hikes, wildlife to spot, where to stay. The map of all the parks on the contents page is a reminder that living here on the east coast means we (they lol) have to start planning soon to hit all 59! Great coffee table book and the kids can learn a lot. I know my family will enjoy reading this book as well as making vacation choices from here.

This book has amazing pictures and great itinerary’s for if you are going to be in the area anywhere from 1 day to a week. Lots of must sees and great local information to save you time when planning a trip. I bought two of this book to give as gifts and the recipients loved it

A beautiful book. Lots of nice pictures and overview of each park. However, in looking at the write-ups on parks I've visited, I saw a picture of the Maroon Bells (near Aspen!) as the first photo for Rocky Mountain National Park. Aspen is nowhere near Rocky Mountain National Park! Sure it's a great picture (two pages wide!) but the Maroon Bells aren't in the park! There are probably more instances of artistic license in the book, so I give it four instead of five stars.

We use this and love it! We have given it to others as gifts and they love it too!Beautiful and helpful, even to those who are familiar with many of the national parks.

Beautiful book, with great details. Doesn't look we can plan our whole trip from this alone (it's a bit light on restaurants/hotels, etc.), but we knew that when ordering it. It is, however, an excellent place to start from. Love that this Lonely Planet book doubles as a coffee table book!

This is a Christmas gift for a dear friend who wants to stay in the lodges at each National Park so I thought she could plan and dream with this book. Don't know how she liked it yet and I left it sealed. From the outside, it looks beautiful with great photography.

Love this book! Very well organized. Have not seen another come close to the quality of photos provided or the info written for each of the 59 parks. It's going to help me decide which parks I really want to see in retirement, as well as to educate me about parks I never knew existed. It could be outdated soon though as it does provide names of places to stay and eat which certainly change. But for now it's certainly exactly what I have been searching for.

Great book if you intend to travel US National Parks. Very detailed. Great pictures and lots of useful information to prepare your next trip.
