Casts a long way and seems to be well built.
I paired this reel with a Star Stellar 8' medium rod($100) using runcl 40 lb braid and I can cast 100 yards with a 2 oz pyramid sinker. The reel is smooth and has a very strong drag - 33lb. I bought it so I can cast out to Pompano who feed near the sand bars. With a longer rod I should be able to cast well past 100 yards. I'm happy with this reel. I bought it when amazon had it on sale for $157 - great buy !!!It comes with a spare spool and shims. I used the shims on the second spool and loaded 20 lb J-braid and 330 yards filled the spool. The first spool was loaded with 40 lb braid without a shim and the spool took a little under 300 yards.
