This pump really sucks but feels good doing it.
Been using this pump daily for a month now. Although it does not suck very hard it does get the job done. If you are in a hurry then get one that is ONLY 110 volt. This one works on house current AND batteries so the motor is not as strong as a house current one only. Great for sucking while driving to work or riding the subway. Can ever suck while shopping at the mall. It feels good too.

Amazing Breast Pump
I am simply AMAZED by this breast pump. A friend of mine told me to purchase this a while ago and I didn't listen...now I am kicking myself. I bought this to use in lieu of my dual electric Medela pump while "on the go" (car, day trips, airplane, etc.). At first I was skeptical that it could ever be as efficient as my electric pump. I could not have been more wrong! In fact, this is SO MUCH MORE efficient than my electric pump. I can't necessarily say that I get more/increased milk production with this compared to my electric pump. The difference is in the TIME I spend pumping. With this ISIS manual pump, I can get the same amount of expressed milk in less than half the time. For example, I typically “hook” myself up to my electric pump for 20 minutes each session. With the ISIS manual pump, it took me 3 minutes on each side to express the same amount. Plus, I find this pump to be more comfortable and less "bitey" than the electric pump.An added bonus of this pump is the convenience, of course. There is no need to “hook yourself up” and you feel less like a milk machine. The only negative for me is that I have to keep stopping to change the bottles and/or dump the expressed milk into a plastic storage bag because I typically produce 6 - 8 oz. from each breast per session (I have twins) and currently only have 4 oz. bottles to fit the pump. This can be messy with this device unlike with the electric pump where I can change the bottle without having to remove the flanges from my breast. I plan to remedy this by purchasing 8 oz. Avent bottles, however. If you are looking for a convenient alternative to your electric pump, look no further. This is a great product.

Life-Saver
This product has made my life so much better. I have recently returned to work and wanted to make sure that I could still feed my baby 100% breast milk. (She's only 3mo old.) I had been trying to use a double electric pump for a few weeks before my return and really wasn't have much luck with it. Sometimes I'd get 1T, other times I'd get 2oz. And, this is after 45min pumping sessions, lots of massage, listening to recordings of my crying baby, etc, etc.I was in pain and I was very frustrated.I had read about the massage petals of the Avent and thought it'd be worth a try. Their advertising is spot on, I'm able to pump a full feeding for my baby in 20 mins. With each pumping session, I see between 3-5oz. Wow. My baby won't starve now. It's also very comfortable, I tried so many sizes of shields before, but the petal massager is perfect.Pros:1. Petal massager is comfortable2. Produces a fast let down3. Easy to control the suction/cycle speed4. Small/compact -- easy to carry around & you're not tethered to one spot in your home.5. No electricity required6. Low price7. Quiet compared to electric pumps8. Less equipment than an electric pump9. Actually WORKS!!!Cons:1. One side at a time2. I use both hands while I pump3. Squeaks loudHere's some feedback for the product design though:1. Some milk gets wasted because of the large space before the valve. I usually swish it around to make sure that all the milk drains into the bottle.2. There is some squeaking that occurs with each pump. I think this is because the handle rubs against the plastic cap.

read the negative reviews first
I can't believe all the great reviews. Maybe its just me, but I think this pump is so overrated. The pluses: it is small, it does work OK sometimes. The negatives: it takes a long time to pump even a small amount, it has a lot of parts. And the worst one is that the plastic star valve keeps coming off, which requires taking it apart in the middle of pumping, while its leaking everywhere. I rented the Medela for 2 months before using it and believe me this thing does not compare, not even close. I use it only occasionally and it drives me crazy even than. There has to be a better hand pump out there. This is my personal opinion, so your resluts could be totally different

This is the best Manual Pump Around!!!!!
This is better than the $400 Medela Hospital Grade double electric pump the hospital loaned us. The electric pump produced anywhere from 1 - 1.5 oz within 20 mins on the highest setting. An with our Avent we are getting atleast 2 oz. More often 2.5 - 3 in the same 20 mins of pumping. An at this point my son is only 9 days old. Now granted yes it takes a bit of work because your not having a machine work for you... But, isn't it more important to give your baby the best and the most out of your milk? An electric pump will not always express the hind milk, which is the cream that gives you baby his or her fat content to strive an look/feel their best. Besides if your getting all you need from pumping, you reduce your having to use formula, or if at all. Now remember actual results may vary as everone and ever woman is different. But we've shown this to many other people & even our Nurses and Mid-Wife are impressed! You really are getting your moneys worth its great! Also, there is a comfort piece i think its maybe silicone. We do not use it because it gives better suction and produces more milk per pumping without it. Thats optional.
