How many squares would it take for a 12 × 10 area ?

Each square is 11.8"x11.8", so slightly less than 1 sq foot. The package comes with 12 squares. This equals less than 12 sq feet. For a 12x10 foot room, it would take 10 packages to cover with a gap on two sides, or 11 packages (with one package trimmed to cover said gap.) The total squares needed would be 120 for an edge gap, or 132 for a snug against the wall fit. If you are skillful with cutting down the last box, you may be able to cover the edge gap with fewer squares (ie trimming one square into 3 or 4 edge pieces) to save a few squares if you are looking to use a few of them for another purpose.
