Akro-Mils 44-Drawer Plastic Storage Cabinet, 20"W x 6"D x 16"H, Black

I bought this organizer to sort and store my LEGO parts, and it has worked out great. The quality is better than I expected for the price. The drawers slide smoothly and fit well. I started by sorting pieces into individual trays before transferring them into the drawers, and the variety of drawer sizes made it easy to organize different types of parts. The clear drawers make it easy to see what’s inside, and I was able to add labels to the front of each drawer so I can quickly find the pieces I need. The cabinet feels sturdy and holds a surprising amount of parts. The white finish looks great on my desk and gives my workspace a much cleaner and more organized appearance. Overall, I’m very happy with the purchase. It helped turn what used to be a pile of mixed LEGO pieces into an organized system that’s easy to maintain. I would definitely recommend it.

I picked up the Akro-Mils 44-Drawer Plastic Storage Cabinet as a gift to myself with the goal of finally getting more organized in my garage, and it has been a great addition. Right out of the box it was ready to use, which I really appreciated. No assembly required—just place it where you want it and start organizing. The cabinet itself is lightweight but still feels sturdy enough for storing small parts and miscellaneous items that tend to pile up in a garage. The 44 drawers make it easy to sort everything from screws and hardware to random tools and odds and ends that used to live in a messy pile on my workbench. I also really like the sleek, clean look of the unit. It fits nicely in my workspace without taking up too much room, which is important when garage space is limited. Despite its compact size, it holds a surprising amount of small items and makes everything much easier to find. Overall, this is a simple but extremely useful storage solution. If you're looking for a way to organize small parts in a garage, workshop, or hobby area, this cabinet does the job very well. Highly recommend

I’m not ashamed to admit I collect junk. I maintain my sanity in today’s hellscape by making tiny weird things out of other tiny, weird things. These drawers have my mid-size garbage/treasures/supplies organized to an obnoxious degree. I had six 24-drawer units stacked and anchored to a studio wall—now it’s eight. They hold everything from cut nails to seed beads to animal bones to microscope slides. With my 7th, 8th, and 9th cabinets, I went with 44- and 64-drawer units. I’m so excited! 😂 Great thing is, drawers from chests purchased 20+ years ago are interchangeable with new ones. Since the 90s at least, the drawers have been made of a slightly flexible, translucent Rubbermaid-esque plastic. I can rearrange drawers endlessly between different units, and they are virtually indestructible. Housings are harder—maybe polystyrene?—and are made with stops to allow drawers to hang out, open. Easy, consistent, fully assembled, and durable. Also, the drawers have internal rails—I can divide them in half with strips of cardboard if I want. (The back of the unit has plastic dividers one can snip out to use as templates, too!) The price keeps going up—but buying through Amazon is cheaper than most big box retailers. And, the Amazon warehouse often has “like new” models that add another few bucks’ worth of savings. These are still made in the US—and isn’t that something to support? Akron, Ohio for the win. I love supporting a US employer/manufacturer. EDIT: unlike most craft storage totes and caddies that have a ton of wasted dead space and are made to eventually crack, tip, or fall apart, these units are heavy enough to not wobble or slide around, and they are compact—barely larger than the drawers they hold. They definitely take a beating, making them a great choice for art supplies, beads, Lego, as well as nuts, screws, and bolts. I could rave about great storage for days—these are at the very top of my recommendation list. IRIS brand storage has a tendency to yellow. Akro-Mils does not, in my experience. I’d rather avoid throwaway plastic junk and buy something made to last a lifetime (that just happens to be plastic). I’m an avid junker, and these never show up secondhand. People keep them forever. SECOND EDIT: In the stacked photo, you can see how a few units sag a bit—those were bought in 2010, I think, and they were originally loaded with beads. It doesn’t impact the drawers or the solid nature of the unit.

Whether you're organizing garage hardware, beads, LEGO pieces, office supplies, or makeup accessories, it does the job well. Overall, this is a practical, well-designed storage cabinet that helps eliminate clutter and keeps small items neatly organized. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an efficient storage solution.

If you work with electronics long enough you'll come to appreciate items like this. Lots of drawers for small items. I ordered this one and another one similar with some smaller drawers. Both arrived fast, well packaged, and were exactly as advertised. Happy with purchase. Will likely order another 2 of these.

After reading some negative reviews I was a little hesitant to buy, but nothing else had all great ones either. Was happy to find out quality is the same as the 20yr old 44 drawer unit it was replacing. I’d lost some drawers and wanted to go with the 64 this time. The materials seem to be same, the new drawers are more transparent than the old ones. Sizes all are the same. These don’t pull all the way out as easy, I don’t know if that’s good or bad. No complaints though and glad I went ahead with it.

Original review: 7/2017 I don't review ALL of the products I get on Amazon, but I was HIGHLY impressed with this product and felt that although it has a very good overall rating, some of the reviews were pretty unfair. So I will address some of them and add some of my thoughts at the end. First of all, automatically disregard any review that faults it for some ham fisted delivery personnel, it's a product review, not a shipping review. Second, disregard any reviews that mention how easily it tips over. Unless you are organizing a feather collection, it needs to be anchored... That's common sense. Some reviews mention the bins being brittle, absolutely not, they are actually quite flexible, yet sturdy. Some reviews mention the drawer stops being cheap and "probably" won't hold the drawer in if there's a good amount of weight. Well I have one drawer that has almost 4 pounds of bolts in it and the drawer stop works fine. I initially bought just one of these to see how I thought it would hold up/work for my application. About 3 days after the first one arrived, I ordered a second because I was VERY happy with it. I do want to point out the unit on the right in my photo. If you look closely you will notice that it does have a SLIGHT sag to it...there is 45 pounds of hardware in that unit (not including the weight of the product itself). Not an exaggerated figure, not a guess, I weighed it. The optional hanging bracket for this unit is rated at 40 pounds, so it's safe to say I'm exceeding the design specifications. Even with it sagging, all of the drawers still function smoothly; however, in the interest of ensuring long term fatigue doesn't get the best of it, I will make a simple shelf underneath of them. The only problem I have with them is that they are TOO handy and I'm putting ALL of my small items in them, so now I need a third lol. EDIT: 1/6/19 Wow, I just got notification that 100 people found this review helpful. I figured since it's been well over a year I would give an update. Both of mine are still going strong, nothing has broken, even in the cold temperatures of northern winters. I am still very happy with these bins, and always keep them in mind when I have small things to organize. I did put a shelf under both of them and it has prevented the sagging issue from having more weight than I should have in them. So, I'm still VERY satisfied with them. They're just as good as they've ever been, and they're still loaded with more than the recommended weight.

The product seemed ok, but neither the top or bottom surface was flat, so it would not sit still on a table, perhaps it will improve if I store more heavy items....

I bought 10 Akro-Mils storage cabinets to organise and store my entire stock inventory for my online business, and they have been fundamental to allowing me to run and organise my business properly. They offer a huge amount of storage in a really efficient way (providing that the items are relatively small), and it’s surprising just how much can fit into them. The clear plastic drawers make it really easy at a glance to see roughly how much space is left to fill and what item is in each container, and the material allows for labels to be attached fairly easily. (For reference I use a label maker to print custom label stickers, and they adhere very well). I’ve had problems in the past with effectively labelling storage drawers, as stickers don’t attach well, but with these cabinets, that isn’t a problem at all. I really like how the bottom 12 containers are double the size of the top 32, as it allows for versatile storage, and makes the cabinets suitable for a wider range of items. The material is a lightweight plastic, which makes it really easy to lift and move the cabinets, but it also durable and can hold a decent amount of weight without feeling flimsy. The plastic smooth and is easy to clean and dust. They also have 4 holes in the back on each corner, so can be very simply mounted to a wall, which makes them really strong. They also have 2 grooves on the top and bottom of each drawer, so they can be stacked on top of each other perfectly, making it a perfect storage choice for anyone looking to expand their storage in the future. I would personally recommend this item to anyone, and for the price, nothing comes close in terms of quality and practicality. 10/10!
