A really great and functional office chair!
I work 10 hours of more at a computer every day and my >$1500 "ergonomic" chair was a disappointment. My desk is a table that is 31 inches tall, and it was a struggle to type at a keyboard all day since I was unable to raise the chair up high enough. In addition, I am 6 feet tall and my worthless expensive chair hit the back of my thigh, causing extreme pain and numbness after a few hours. I even tried using an expensive wheelchair cushion to raise me higher and to soften the irritation of my thighs, but nothing worked. I bought this chair because another reviewer wrote that the lowest seat setting was too tall. I knew, sight unseen, that this was the chair for me. This chair is WONDERFUL! It arrived within days, it was packaged well, and required only 13 screws and 6 washers to attach the arms, seat plate and seat cushion (it also included the Allen wrench so no tools are required). The instructions were beautifully written, the screws were even separately wrapped and well labeled so there is no way to put it together wrong. The arms are also labeled "left" and "right" so the only potential for messing up is not getting these on the right side of the seat. A little common sense and slowing down enough to know which is the "R" or "L" side of the seat is all it takes. I am not a physically strong person, but I put it together easily myself in around 10 minutes. The heaviest part was lowering the seat/back/arms onto the "hole" to the pneumatic cylinder that is in the base. Make sure you know which hole to place the body of the chair, as I kept trying to place it on the adjustable tension button on the bottom of the seat, instead of placing it in the correct hole that engages the pneumatic cylinder. Once I figured it out, it was simple to place the chair together. The seat is a thick padded leather seat that is SOOO much more comfortable than the open weave seat of my worthless expensive chair. The back is open weave, which I like. There is an adjustable tension button on the bottom of the seat that can be loosened to allow the back to tilt or rock. On the right side of the chair is the lever to activate the pneumatic cylinder to raise the chair up to 23.5 inches high, or lower to 19.5 inches high. This same lever can be pulled out to allow the back to tilt/rock, or pushed in to lock the back into place. The casters are heavy-duty plastic and work well on my floor. The arms are a heavy-duty padded plastic that can be raised up and down with the push of a button. I had expected it to be of poor quality from reading the other reviews, but am pleased to find the quality is excellent and will serve its purpose well. Compared with my overpriced worthless chair, it has metal in the wheels, base, and back, but who cares, the heavy-duty plastic in my new office chair should hold up nicely.

Meets my expectations
Because I've only had limited experience with this chair and so can not judge its longevity, I am giving it four stars. (My expectation and hope is that it turns out to be a 5-star purchase.) I purchased this chair based on the reviews posted by other Amazon buyers. I had tried similar chairs with a ventilated back in stores and liked that feature. This chair assembled quite easily. (No missing parts.) Following tips by others, I made sure to really cinch down every screw/bolt as I assembled the chair. The materials of construction appear to be good. I'm pleased that the cushion is covered with fabric and not bonded leather. (My old chair had bonded leather that started separating from the underlying fabric shortly after I purchased it.) This chair doesn't lower as close to the floor as my old one. Nevertheless, it does provide a comfortable fit. (I am 5'-9" tall with a 29" inseam; so I'm a little on the short-legged side.) I opted to install the arm rests (no problem identifying left from right). They are comfortable with adequate "give" when I lean into them. My keyboard is on a fold-out tray below the desktop, and the armrests can be positioned to provide me with the right amount of support while I work. Unlike some more expensive models, this chair has a single control under the seat. This control can be used to adjust height above the floor and lock/unlock the back to prevent/allow reclining. (A "screw" control under the front of the cushion allows the user to adjust the amount of "give" in the back when you recline.) I personally prefer a single control; I've tried chairs with multiple controls and find that they provide me with little utility. UPDATE 9/13/13: I initially thought the seat cushion was covered with a fabric. (I assembled the chair under artificial light.) I now realize in the light of day that the covering is a textured leather. My star rating remains unchanged; if this chair outlasts my first chair, this will turn out to be a 5-star purchase. UPDATE 10/9/19: This chair is still in first rate condition. There has not been any deterioration in the fabric or any other components of the chair. As a result, I am revising my rating upward to five stars.

Good Chair for the Price - sturdy and practical
Update 09-2017 (2.5 years later...) This chair has held up great for a budget chair. I'm most impressed with the seat cushion, it has flattened some but not nearly as much as other office chairs I've purchased at big box office supply stores. I would literally be feeling the bolts and wood under the padding on those other chairs (sometimes within 3 months). The thing that has not held up are the armrests, both sides are completely falling apart. This is also pretty normal for these types of chairs, so no surprise there. Everything else still works fine and overall, very happy with this chair. I would still recommend it, if you are on a budget and have to sit a lot. Original Review (07-2015): I have been using this chair for about 3 months now and am happy with my purchase. I use the chair for my home office and sit in it for probably 60-70 hours a week. In the previous chairs that I have used, the seat padding and armrest skin are the most common failure points (I have a bony butt and elbows). So far this chair remains like new. We'll see how it holds up after a year or two, but I think that I've finally found a reasonably priced chair that will hold up for more than 6 months of continuous use and is reasonably comfortable. The one small quibble that I have compared to my previous chair is the faux leather. It holds the heat and when I wear shorts, it is not as comfortable as my previous cloth covered seat. For the money, this is an excellent value and much better quality than similarly priced chairs I have owned in the past. I would say that it compares more closely to a 2-3 hundred dollar office chair. Nothing fancy, just a practical, functional office chair.

Buying My Second One
I bought this chair about 4 years ago at the recommendation of a friend of mine who plays online poker professionally (his only job). I mention this last fact because the quality and supportive comfort of a chair means to someone who's job requires an almost unmoving sitting posture for 12 hours a day, sometimes more. Quality in the matter of construction and support is absolutely paramount for someone like my friend, far more so than for me, another person who sits for hours a day as a software engineer. I can say without a doubt, this chair is the best chair I've ever owned or have ever used in a professional capacity. This includes every chair at ever office I've ever sat in for long periods of time. This chair has seriously stood the test of time and continues to. I'm buying my second one only because after 4 or so years, I managed to start rubbing off the outer vinyl layer on the seat cushion from the types of jeans I tend wear (kind of harsh external fabric), and I just don't want to have an unslightly seat visible when I have guests over (not that I have guests over in 2020 but you know what I mean...) Absolutely nothing is wrong with my first chair. Absolutely ever seam, spring, wheel, bearing, lever, bolt, slider, latch, button, and piston is in perfect working order, no different than the day I bought the chair. Even the arm-rests show almost no sign of wear (a tad bit I suppose but it's practically unnoticeable). This chair has moved with me across state lines and between 4 locations, up and down stairs many times, and there is barely a scratch on it. To be honest, I'm not exactly sure how this chair has managed to survive, least of all survive in practically a like-new condition, especially for this long, it's kind of weird. If I wasn't sitting in the chair right now I wouldn't even believe myself, but it's true. So yeah, I'm buying a second one to retire the first one after all the time. A part of me feels bad honestly, like I'm betraying an old friend who hasn't done anything wrong, who has been solid and remarkably dependable for years, a true to form, resilient, and supportive partner. I'm getting misty-eye'd just thinking about it now... Damn it! I promised myself I wouldn't cry... My make-up is ruined now! See what you made me do!? Lol, jk, but for real though, maybe I'll buy a second one and have the upholstery of the first re-done so I don't have to feel like a betraying jerk-bag. Alright, that's all for my review except for this last word. Buy this chair if you want one of the best damn chairs of your life. I'm super cereal.

Best ergonomic chair ive sat in under 300$
I purchased this chair for streaming videogames on Twitch. That fact might be irrelevant but the factors I was looking to get with my chair were: comfort, lumbar support (actual lumbar, not just pillows), height adjustment, and armrest adjustment with sturdy construction in everything. Many chairs seem to have cheaper materials in their armrests, and although this chair doesnt boast a huge recline, I got it because it was one of the least expensive chairs that contain all of these features. Its day 2 for me with this chair and im very satisfied with this chair! its extremely comfy, though if you're looking for a cloud-like softness for your bottom seat, this isnt it. I like the mech backing, it feels very sturdy and allows nice airflow. The armrests only have 2 positions: up and down. theres a tiny bit of wiggle in the armrests, but i dont mind it at this price point seeing as even the 400$+ chairs have wiggle in the armrests. The lock mechanism has 2 positions, out= unlock. Allows you to lean back with that 2 to 1 ratio recline, but it will not stay in that position once you lean forward again, the chair will reset back to upright backrest. I kind of like it that way so no complaints there for me. In short, if you want a fancy racer style chair, you might be better off saving your pennies, but if all you want is a reliable, sturdy-made chair to improve your posture and enhance your sitting experience, this is the best I could find after weeks of research. You wont be disappointed. :)

it's still really comfortable. I should add I'm 6'2" ~ 200 lbs
I've now bought two of these in the pst 5 years, the original is still going strong. I'll never go back to a "big box" office chair. I was a little skeptical about purchasing, sight unseen (or not sat in). I think I made the right choice. I work from home 8-10 hrs a day, 5 days a week. Though this chair is only rated for up to 8 hours a week, it's still really comfortable. I should add I'm 6'2" ~ 200 lbs. Mesh back is great and seems to be holding up great so far. Seat (managers chair variant) is solid leather... and can at times get a bit warm... but nothing too uncomfortable. Armrests are the weakest part of this chair, but they're fine and adjustable. Seat is plenty wide, don't really have a wide belly or above averagely wide hips; I have no problem fitting with ample room between my legs and arm wrests. Casters are on a wide base and seem to support evenly (and are quite). Doesn't seem like it'd damage carpet or floor, but I do have a matt I use with it. Putting together was straight forward and mostly tool less (tools included). Haven't had anything loosen up in ~ 2 weeks of use. It is also professional looking, has a slight "modern look" to it. The back is movable (does lean back a bit) but I was a little disappointed by that. It's spring (tension) not levered. This isn't a lean back and put your feet on the desk chair by any means.

Great office chair for home
This chair is quite comfortable. It's very sturdy and well-built. It was fairly easy to put together, and I specifically was looking for a cushion that wouldn't warp or sink in when sat on for a long time. So far so good, the cushion is remaining exactly that, cushiony. The lean back feature with the adjustable tension is clutch. What really sets this apart from the Boss Leather High Executive Chair (which I also own) is that this is NOT a full back and head support. This is really key when it comes to comfort because I can actually lean back and stretch my head back, easing my neck. The Boss High Exec chair does not allow you to do this because it forces your head forward against the headrest when you try to lean back. Overall, I've given this 5 stars because of the excellent build quality and I have not had any issues or problems. I hope this chair lasts a very long time.

Comfortable, ergonomic, good price -- quality warranty customer service? Not so much.
01/27/2017 UPDATE: I've had problems with the left armrest for quite a while. The PU material started to tear, I emailed Office Star (the actual company that produces Space Seating products) and I was quickly sent a replacement. It was fine until the area of the back screw decided to snap off (very thin plastic at that area -- looks like whomever designed it didn't take into account of any sort of pressure on it). It just swiveled a bit and I just lived with it. Now the area of the front screw (leaving the armrest precariously sitting on the approximately 3 inches of cheap plastic that "supports" the armrest. I've been trying to get an entire arm replacement (which is covered under warranty) from the parts email and all I got was a request for my name, address, and telephone number. This was about a week ago, still no other responses. Emailed the parts supply email again with no reply in 2-3 days so far, as it seems the first reply was from a personal email since I received a canned response of "XXX will be out of the office until Monday" when I emailed last Friday (a week ago today). I am deducting 2 stars for now -- I will provide an update if I actually get a replacement covered under warranty. The dimensions of this chair force you to sit correctly (unless you're as flexible as me) and the lumbar support is fantastic. It has actually reduced my occasional back pain. I can sit on it for hours upon hours and never feel uncomfortable. WARNING: If you have cats, put a scratching post/thing near your new chair so they don't destroy it like they destroyed the one you replaced with this.

Comfortable and just the right size
Love this task chair, nice design, not cumbersome, comfortable and very easy to put together(10 minutes), and not too expensive either. Very sturdy as well. Thanks Amazon:)
