wicked, naughty and beautiful
Another duke another spy. Kit the Duke also fights against the Fenians and an unknown villain. Kit leaves his wife on their wedding day for a mission for the crown. He returns severely wounded 6 months later. Georgiana the Duchess is emotionally wounded by her husband’s abandonment. She has turned the townhouse into an animal sanctuary. She reluctantly tends to her ill husband who’s constantly in a bad mood and treats her harshly. However, over time they get to know each other and face off the threats by an unknown evil and eventually fall in love. But they must face one last threat. As always with Scarlett’s stories, there is a lot of smoldering passion and lots of hot steamy love scenes. But it’s also a beautiful and funny story about a surly duke, a caring duchess and her cats, dogs, mice and even a squirrel. The story has depth and emotion and the characters are solid, well developed and loveable. This story will capture your heart. I can’t wait for book 5.

Wonderfully Addictive.
Historical romance is my guilty pleasure genre. If anyone asks what I like to read I will usually tell then crime and thriller, but the truth is I will read anything. However, historical romance is never a genre I think to shout out about. This has nothing to do with shame (despite the looks some people receive when stating their enjoyment of bodice rippers) but is a reflection of how rarely I read the genre. When I do read the genre, I tend to stick to the same authors. With Her Deceptive Duke, I have found a new historical romance author I will be following. Her Deceptive Duke is the fourth book in Scarlett Scott’s Wicked Husbands series, but it works perfectly fine as a standalone novel. There were clear references to other books and characters, events and drama that have clearly already played out in the series, but such does not hinder your enjoyment of this one. It does, however, leave you wanting to go back and read the prior books. Such is something I now wish to do, something I’m rather eager to do. It’s not just to fill in gaps, but because I was addicted on so many levels and am desperate for more. From the very first chapter I was sucked into this story. The drama begins instantly and does not let up. We’re sucked into the story, and every page leaves us ever more desperate to see how everything comes together. It wasn’t just the events that are gripping, though, as the characters have an even stronger hold. I adored the characters and found their chemistry to be amazing. I could not put the book down once I started, as I could not bring myself to leave the wonderful development between the two behind. With fantastic characters, a story I adored, and more action than I’m accustomed to in my historical romance reads, Scarlett Scott more than won me over with Her Deceptive Duke. In fact, I was so in love I’m now more than willing to dive into Nobody’s Duke – the first book in the spin-off series, League of Dukes, which tells the story of a character I adored in Her Deceptive Duke.

Repetitive and not a fluid story
I've read some of this authors book and I quite like it. However, this one is a bit disappointing. It went on and on and back and forth of how they shouldn't be liking one another but goes on and on within chapters of wondering why they are somehow liking one another. I had to scan and skip some pages as not much is happening. The plot is good and could have improved more if not wasted on the characters mind wondering around.

Yet another amazing story in the series
This is yet another brilliantly written story in the amazing series. The plot is full of hot emotional passages and suspense. The characters have a strength that is to be envied. This is a beautifully written book that will suit anybody who loves hot steamy historical romances that have plenty of suspense.

4.5 stars!!
I really enjoyed this particular book, and I think its definitely my favourite in this series. I loved both the main characters Georgiana and Kit, and really enjoyed the enemies-to-lovers side of the story as it progressed. This was a really well crafted, and well written book, that in my opinion definitely captured the essence and language of the Victorian age. Do try this series if you enjoy historical romance.

A very absolutely fantastic and delightful story of heartache, danger, and love. A very unique blend of misunderstanding mixed with realization that all is not as it seems.

Spy Duke
After a brief courtship heiress Georgina marries Kit Harcourt. Without any explanation he leaves on their wedding day. I loved this story Georgina is such a wonderful heroine who takes in dog, cat and mice strays of London. Her husband returns, injured and near death. With time, patience, understanding and care life for the Leeds turns into a wonderful HEA. The story is one that has elements of a spy story with a whodunnit, protective Butler, jealous husband, adorable cast of cats, dogs, mice, and a chipmunk! Recommended!!

👌👌
This novel had a lot of up and down moments for me. One moment, I was completely sure I wouldn't keep reading it; but then in the next second, something would grab my attention enough to pull me back in.The overall story line was impeccable, I just could not stay hooked 100%. Definitely worth the read; however, because in the right hands this novel could be amazing.
