When the sunlight hits it just right, it scatters little rainbows around the room which looks really cool. The prism itself is clear and well cut, so the light effect comes through cleanly. I hung it near a window that gets good afternoon sun and it really shows off there. It’s not a big or complicated item, but it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Just hang it or let it sit on your window sill and let the sunlight do the rest. Overall, simple but very pretty. Nice little addition if you like that kind of light effect.

My 4 year old daughter asked Santa for a “rainbow jewel” this year, and we had no idea how we were going to pull that off—until we found this crystal prism. It ended up being perfect. We told her it’s a sun catcher, and now she gets so excited every morning when the sun hits it and little rainbows appear. It’s such a sweet, magical way to start the day and honestly made her Christmas wish feel extra special. That said, I’m sure placement matters because it doesn’t always capture the sun rays as dramatically as I’ve seen others do. Still pretty, just not always super vibrant. As for durability, it’s held up better than expected. My daughter has dropped it a few times and it didn’t break (thankfully), but it’s definitely still fragile and should be handled with care. Overall, a really lovely little prism—especially if you’re trying to add a bit of magic to a child’s day. 🌈

We're covered in rainbows!! I love this prism, it's pretty and just the right size for my window. On sunny days, it gets direct sunlight through it twice a day, and when the light comes through, little rainbows appear all over the room -- so beautiful! The magic of science that makes you feel like a little kid. It does have a tiny chip on the side which you don't see when it's hanging so I don't really care. I'm so glad I bought this -- and of course my kids are delighted with it, too!

It's a large disc that is very pretty, but there isn't much dispersement of the rainbow effect onto a distant wall, like most crystals display. Might have something to do with the mirrored finish on one side, which in affect minimizes any sun getting through it. I suppose if you had it hanging such that you could see the clear side with the light hitting that side, you might get better results as the AB finish would accentuate the reflection back out at you. But no sun really gets THROUGH it, and that aspect is what I was looking for. UPDATE: I now have it hanging on the trellis of the balcony with a 200 lumen 5000k led solar disc shining upwards from underneath, and this crystal really comes alive, especially when twitching in the wind. And it reflects hotly in direct sunlight when viewed from below.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Dancing rainbows from a prism hanging in the kitchen window is one of my favorite memories of going to my grandparent's home. It was well packaged and came with two hanger options that I could use as well as a sturdy cord. It is larger than I expected though the description is very accurate. It's a lovely addition to my window and brings me back to those wonderful memories.

Gorgeous, giant glass piece as long as my hand. Its clarity is perfect, and throws amazing rainbows! It’s such a stand-out piece in my sun-catcher collection!
