I serving of Lo-Salt = 1/4 tspIn that serving there are 450 mg of Potassium and 170 mg sodium.

Q: I tasted the salt on its own and it tasted like alum.When I put the salt in food,the food had a very distinct aftertaste of the salt. Is it normal?

Most people seem to taste the low salt as a little sharper than sodium chloride. Variations of taste in individuals sometimes lead to the experience you are having, just as some individuals do not react to artificial sweeteners as sweet, or notice a strange aftertaste. I suspect you will have the same experience with any salt combination which contains a large amount of potassium chloride. The internists seem to believe that the amount of sodium is directly related to elevated blood pressure, and potassium is the most common substitute. Depending on the spectrum of your taste receptors, you might do better with one of the combinations of spices as a substitute.

Q: How much elemental Magnesium is in this?

If you check out the label, you'll see that the primary ingredients are 450 mg Potassium and 60 mcg Iodine. There is no mention of "elemental Magnesium." Labeled "Ingredients" are these: Potassium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Magnesium Carbonate, and Potassium Iodide.

Q: What kind of salt is used in the product? I was hoping for sea salt.....

This salt is one third regular salt and two thirds potassium exactly the ratio you need to help prevent high blood pressure. You need 3700 milligrams of potassium a day and 2300 milligrams of sodium. This product helps lower your sodium intake but you still must eat a proper diet to keep your sodium in check.
