DeuterKid Comfort Child Carrier Hiking Backpack I Active Standard Fit & Active SL Women's Fit

If you’re petite, this is for you
Osprey poco plus vs women’s deuter kid comfort:We initially purchased the osprey poco plus thinking my husband (5’9 with a long torso) and I (5’3 with a short torso) could both use it. I had read many reviews from people of similar height to me that loved it. Well, it didn’t work for me. Im 5’3 and 100 lbs and it is about 2 inches too long which made it super uncomfortable AND I had it cinched as tight as it could go which still wasn’t tight enough. But it works great for my husband and it is hands down easier to use than this model of the deuter. BUT, this hiking pack is comfy for baby and comfy for a mama with a short torso and I really like it. It does not easily/quickly adjust to different torso lengths so it is strictly my hiking pack and my husband uses the Osprey. The deuter has the stirrups (which do not seem to fit quite as well as the osprey) but does not have an included sun shade (but is not an expensive add on).

Hiking with a 4 year old
I plan on taking this on a trip in a couple months, but we tried it on with our 35 pound 4 year old to make sure it would fit. It took quite some time to figure out how to adjust it, the instructions were kind of confusing even with the pictures. But it fit her great. I do still feel quite a bit of weight on my shoulders, but I think that's unavoidable. I do wish I got the women's size though because I feel the hip connector could be a little higher, but I have it adjusted as small as possible, but I plan on switching off with my husband. All in all, I'm very excited to try this out with hiking in the mountains.

Great for larger/older children
I have an Osprey AG Poco Premium, it has been a great pack for the past 2 years. However, last winter it was a tight fit once my daughter had winter clothing on. Without winter clothing the adjustments on the Osprey were as large as they would get for her. This pack fits her with lots of adjustment left. I find it as comfortable to wear as the Osprey. I like that it is lighter. I also like the design of the storage in the Deuter more. This pack would not work well for small children. I could put my daughter in the Osprey at 6 months old (once she had head control). I think this pack would have been too big for her even at 1.5 years old (she has always been in the bottom quarter of the growth chart).

great for the price and compared to other options
Overall a great carrier, the only design issue we see is that the shoulder straps offer hardly any support. They need to be significantly wider and heftier.

Sturdy and comfortable carrier
This carrier worked perfectly for our hike with 1 + yr old. Foot rests were great.

Comfortable fit!
Love this product! The only negative I would say is that our daughter is the smallest you should put in here and when she’s awake it’s 100% fine because she holds herself up. But on our first big hike with it she fell asleep and was OUT. We were going down mountain and her head flopped down and got stuck. I fixed it once but she was so sleepy it happened again so we took her out and I carried her down in my arms. For reference, at the time our daughter was 7 months old, 27.5 inches long and 16.5# (tall and skinny haha).
