I particularly like the online access for the mp3 that gives an idea of how the tunes should sound. This is essentially 'Teaching Little Fingers to Play' (TLFTP) and 'John Thompson Modern Course Grade 1' for adults with a few small changes in content. I use with beginning teens as well, as it moves them along faster . The notes and print are much smaller than TLFTP. If you have an adult with vision problems use TLFTP instead. It includes TLFTP ensemble accompaniment scores for the teacher as well. Identical in content to the original green version. Ad the end students should be ready to attempt Grade 1 or 2 examination

Reccomend this Book
Decided to get this book for a Sunday School class member who is beginning to learn keyboard and took a look at it and realized that one thing I missed in my years of playing was identifying the notes by "saying them out loud." I'm going back to the drawing board myself. This could be the reason I could not get a grasp on playing chords. Who knows.

A good book for adult beginners
This is a great book for beginners that have a teacher. It contains basic and concise information to have the student reading music from the get go. The initial exercises are short and promptly get the pianist playing with both hands. Most of the exercises have a second part for the teacher which gives a sense of ensemble and helps put music making into context. The book also contains a “reading drill” which encourages the student to write barlines and clap the rhythms. The print is pleasant to read and spaced nicely.I originally bought this book by mistake, I was intending for a different author, but I am glad I purchased it.

Excellent primer for adults
I've only just started using this book, but already it feels like a really solid way to learn piano. My wife is a professional musician, and teaches piano to children and adults. She says the book is an excellent way to get started. Simple, clear, and not gimmicky.
