Sweet and portable ---
This is a NICE item if you're going on a long trip and you need an extremely portable tripod. We're going on a cruise next week and decided we'd like a tripod to take pictures of ourselves with grandiose backdrops -- without always bothering other people to take our picture. I chose this one because it is both compact and extends a little higher than the next closest model. The first one I received was broken in the package. Actually, it looked like it had been shipped to someone else, broken, returned to Amazon then reshipped. But upon reporting this to Amazon I was provided free return materials and a replacement was shipped same day. I just received the replacement and, after getting out of the clam shell -- always frustrating -- I discovered WHY the other one was broken....The mounting platform rotates 90 degrees so that a camera can be easily attached, however, if one simply attempts to do the 90 degree rotation, it is locked in place. If one tried to muscle it, that's how it could get broken. There is a spring loaded lock and one must push against the spring before attempting to rotate 90 degrees to mount the camera. This is very subtle, however, once you get the hang of it, it should give excellent service. It meets all my needs of size and weight and ability to support small cameras. We have a small Nikon Coolpix and a Panasonic HD movie camera. It supports both of those (not at the same time) perfectly well. If you've got a 3 part Technicolor movie camera that weighs 200 lbs -- this isn't for you. But for most digital cameras that an individual might actually use on a vacation, it seems perfect -- what with luggage weight limitations, etc.

Great value!
I wanted a cheap tripod for my gopro to do timelapse videos and taking pictures without asking other people. This is a pretty decent tripod that is lightweight and compact making it very travel friendly. I love that the legs can extend up to 42 inches and are decently stable. Although I would not recommend using a heavy camera such as a DSLR, but it will do fine on lighter/smaller cameras (Don't risk your thousand dollar camera on a cheap tripod! lol). As far as how the legs extend, you would have to pull the legs out and twist to the right to lock it in place. It can be a bit tricky trying to put the legs back in, you may have to individually twist the leg extensions to the left and push forcibly back in. The top mounting bracket is very adjustable to get those perfect shots (can move up and down and side to side). Although, I did have to order a gopro tripod mount to attach on the top mounting bracket as an extra accessory which I did manage to find on amazon for $3.50 with free prime shipping. Here is the link for the gopro tripod mount https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J8D0KYG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1Overall, pretty decent tripod for $21.57 which is a great value.Pros: Lightweight, compact, stable, travel friendly, fully adjustable mounting bracket, legs extend to 42 inches, decent build quality, good priceCons: Putting legs back in may be tricky, may not be stable for heavier cameras

Targus TG-42TT 42-Inch 8-Section Travel Tripod: A great travel tripod
Hello everyone!Introduction:I know this product has like 2 stars by the time I'm writing this, but I think it has been hugely unappreciated. To begin my review, I think you should be aware that this is meant to be a travel tripod. If you are looking for one you can use on very windy locations in low light, or for heavy cameras, this is not the tripod for you.IMPORTANT: THIS TRIPOD CAN ONLY BE LOADED WITH UP TO 1 POUND.Pro:To me, this tripod is excellent, it exceeded my expectations. It has two different locks for vertical and horizontal movement, as well as a simple "push and lift" way of putting your camera in portrait position. It weighs half a pound (roughly 500g) and extends from 1 to up to 4 feet high. Conclusion:You should be aware that this isn't my only tripod, i have a normal Braun aluminum tripod (not much, but more heavy duty than this one), and I bought this for on-the-road photography. So my advice is: if you need a tripod to travel and have nice, fine pictures of the Eifel tower instead of the typical blurred one, this is it. It is cheap, pretty sturdy and easy to erect.Try to get another one to have at home, any Braun will do. If you want to go for something ore pro, maybe a Manfrotto, but there's no reason not to have a good travel tripod like the Targus TG-42TT 42-Inch 8-Section Travel Tripod. Just treat it carefully. It's not superman! The perfecto companion to the Nikon P7000 or the Canon G12!Well, I hope this review has been useful for you.Best regards!Marco

Lightweight and Very Useful
Bought this as a replacement to a similar construction tripod that I lost or misplaced. I really liked the old one and I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to find a similar one that would extend beyond a couple feet and still be compact and lightweight. This tripod is both of those things and a great price. I use it for my hunting tripod and it hardly takes up any room in my pack. Some other reviews stated that they had issues with the legs not locking out or not wanting to go back in. I did have a little learning curve on getting the extensions to consistently lock out but after a couple uses I was able to set it up pretty quickly with no issues. As far as the sturdyness I have been very happy with this tripod. I use it to hold a compact spotting scope or my digital camera and it is very solid.I really like the mounting plate. Probably the best feature on the tripod. You have the ability to tip it 90-degrees this allows me to easily turn the attachment screw for mounting things even with gloves on. This is also nice because you can set your camera up for portrait shots.Obviously it should not be expected to be your end-all-be-all tripod but if you are into backpacking or hunting this is a great lightweight option. I'm thinking about buying another one just to keep one in my truck all the time, for the price why not.

Simply Simple & Perfect!
a perfect product for the travel kit. Light weight and good for the small cameras. The only thing is about the delivery which is quite long and arrived one day before the deadline which is not so in other cases.
