I purchased the freightmaster in N scale and one of the cars wheels is shorting out the track. Can anyone tell how to fix this w/out buying wheels?

No. Radius is determined by curved track sections and the cars are designed for 11.25 inches.

Does the n gauge train stay on track with magnet

no there is no magnet involved, the train stays on the tracks the same way a real one would.

can the engine (the gp40 diesel) be upgraded to DCC, does it have the connector pre-installed for the board?
