## Description

Keep 'em Happy with vet-formulated, chicken-flavored calming chews! Three effective calming ingredients support calm behavior and reduce stress in cats fast, with no corn, no wheat, and no artificial flavors. Nobody’s happy when your kitty is feeling anxious or stressed, but Calming chews can help them relax. These tasty, bite-sized soft chews feature three effective active ingredients. The colostrum in Pet Naturals Calming chews is a special blend of milk proteins that promote calm behavior and stress relief in cats of all sizes and breeds. Colostrum can also help support brain health and function in cats of any age! Thiamine, also known as Vitamin B1, is an important vitamin that supports a balanced mood and sharp memory. As a part of our calming chews for cats, thiamine offers calming benefits by helping the body manage stress and anxiety. L-theanine has unique calming and mood-balancing abilities: it stimulates the production of natural "feel-good" signals that are released in the brain to help support anxiety, sleep, digestion, and more! L-theanine supports relaxation without drowsiness. Pet parents report seeing positive effects for four hours or longer! Pet Naturals Calming chews for cats are not a sedative, and won't dim your kitty's shine. If your furry friend is feeling extra stressed, it's OK to give them another chew (or two!) to keep them calm. Calming chews can be given to your pet daily or simply as needed.

Review: Half too much for my 11lb cat - Idiot neighbor shot off fireworks (over a month early) at 7:30 am on a Sunday right under her favorite squirrel highway windows, cat terrified of fireworks anyway and these were just outside! He got an earfull. Ordered these since she was still traumatized & skiddish days after. It's been two weeks and she still won't go to her beloved windows. Heartbreaking. I gave her half a chew and it made her very spaced. A quarter chew didn't seem to do anything. Tried a third of one, it mellowed her without her seeming doped up. She doesn't like being out of it and refused the paste we had used last year for July 4th. The fish shape of these makes it difficult to break in thirds but it doesn't crumble and she LOVES the taste. I make sure she can't access the package or she would eat them all and that would be very bad situation. Excellent product, great calming tool. I suggest starting out with half to see how they affect your kitty.
Review: My cat won't eat them alone/Not very effective - I have an EXTREMELY hyperactive cat, and was very hopeful that these would allow me to get some sleep (think zoomies routinely at 3am, sometimes lasting for 2+ hours). I'm working remotely and my son is doing Distance Learning, so even in the daytime, it is quite distracting. Our fur baby is still fairly new to our home, as we just adopted him less than two months ago, but we struggle to find the time to give him the attention he needs during the day, and I think it goes without saying that zoomies in the middle of the night are stressful. We're talking slamming into walls, knocking things over, jumping, falling...I'm constantly worried that he will get hurt. So I had very high hopes that these would help to calm him, but unfortunately the results were minimal, at best. They seemed to help briefly after the first time, but after that, little to no effect. He also hates the taste (and this is a cat who eats every other kind of food and treats given, and we've tried a wide variety), but I was able to easily crumble them into his favorite wet foods. I was just hoping for convenience in a treat combined with results, but unfortunately that isn't the case with these so far. I might try 3 (I've only tried up to 2 at a time so far), but I'm not sure if that is excessive. He's very young so I don't want to overdo it. I think these might work for mild behavioral issues/mild anxiety, but for our wild and furry child, it's back to the drawing board. Admittedly we're still waiting for the next vet appointment (the vet hospital where we adopted him was very unhelpful, to say the least), but I plan to discuss any potential health concerns at his new vet when we visit. I've read that sometimes extreme behaviors like the ones he sometimes expresses can have underlying causes, such as thyroid issues. In the meantime, I'm hoping for a little peace and calm -- especially when we're busy, and extra especially at bedtime. 😽 I plan to try the calming treats with melatonin next (wish us luck with those).

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Moving and I can't get my cat into a carrier. Will this make him calm enough to catch & take him to our new home without getting shredded?**
A: My male cat was angry after we moved. He was peeing on the dogs bed and being a real jerk to everyone. Seemed he blamed his unhappiness on the dog! I gave him these treats and he got better, but it took several days. I think it has to build up. I was curious so I purchased some L-Theanine supplements and tried it on myself. It made my quality of sleep so refreshing. I felt so rested and less stressed. I assume it works the same for the cat. I found I could not take L-Theanine on a regular basis, it made me a bit dizzy and sleepy after taking it for two weeks. I concluded that it must build up in the body, so I figured it might be the same for the cat. My cat took it (treat or a tiny amount of L-Theanine from a open capsule) for about two weeks and he got over being pissed off. He just needed to calm down and relax. I think the key is to give it to the cat everyday for at least 3 or 4 days, then they calm down and chill out, you can then reduce the dose each day and they are still calm. Great product, made life better at my house.

**Q: Are these hard? I just received them and they are so hard my cat can barely chew it**
A: The problem with these treats is that they are hard and big. If they were just crunchy little treats, it wouldn't be an issue. But they are more like large bricks about the size of a small cats mouth. Basically two bites for a small cat. So good luck getting a cat to gnaw on something like this when they are in full blown panic mode.

**Q: Can I give them to a 10 week old kitten ?**
A: The package says "for cats of all sizes" and "safe use in pregnant cats has not been proven." There are no warnings for kittens, in fact it states "for cats of all sizes."The first time I gave one to mine, she immediately took a long nap. Next day, I broke it in half and gave her the tail end so she didn't nap. I would try this for a kitten, just give a half or third. It states that it's not a sedative so I don't see any danger.I think it would be okay for kittens but you have to make your own decision. What kind of behavioral issue is a kitten having?

**Q: Does the bag say what flavor it is? My cat doesn't like fish flavor.**
A: try a cbd oil for your cats! we get a great unflavored one that works fast and lasts hours!! we get ours at eden's herbals.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ We WERE pretty happy with this
*by M***Y on August 9, 2022*

Update - July 27, 2023 Until recently, my cat has eagerly eaten 1 of these treats before bedtime for an entire year. I don’t know if they changed the recipe or made a bad batch, but he will not eat from the most recent package I bought - and I bought 2 bags in June. I thought about trying the treats from the other bag, but they both have the same lot number. My current plan is to see if Petco has these with a different lot #. Will buy a package to try if they do. Might try contacting Pet Naturals as well. I called these my cat’s chill pill, because he would not be as annoying to me or his sister after taking. The lot number on the package he won’t eat is - 541202001 0325 Original review - about June 2022 You will need to figure out how this best works for your situation. We have 2 sibling cats, age 5. The boy annoys the girl frequently. She growls when he gets near. When he goes after her and they run and tussle, she screams. There is never blood, but we'd prefer not to deal with this. I originally gave both cats a calming treat around 5 p.m. with dinner. The treats are kinda large so I just break them in half. They both really liked them and I could tell they made both cats pretty mellow fairly quickly. We went through one whole bag and then I was feeling like the effects were not lasting very long. We were having some blow-ups -- lots of screaming -- around midnight. I decided to skip giving our female a calming treat, because if her brother wouldn't annoy her she'd be fine. AND I switched the timing on the treat. I'm now giving him the calming treat right before I get in bed (and I give her a regular cat treat so she doesn't feel cheated). For us, that seems to be very helpful. There are occasional blow-ups here and there but no more at night. (Except the one night I forgot to give the treat. Ay yi y!!!) I don't know if our girl cat is more sensitive because she's a calico. For now, I plan to continue with these treats for our boy cat at our bedtime.
