Delivered in time as promised. It came in its box as is. Not in an Amazon box. Box got little dents and holes due to shipping but didn’t damage much the contents. Styro foam supports all edge sides. The whole unassembled item was bubble wrapped.Easy to follow instructions. Quite straight forward if you’ve done a few assemblies like Ikea items. This product came with complete tools and screws. Pictured are the excess screws after I got it installed. This S hex key is my favourite. It made the job easier over an L- shaped key.Assembly Tips:Follow the instructions and hand tighten all screws first. Once you have built it you can tighten the screws with the tools. Don’t over tighten as you may rip or crack the wood. Just tight enough that it won’t wobble when in use. The feet’s side that should face the outside are the ones with bored holes. If you tighten the screws and their heads protrude flat out, you got the foot inside out. The heads of the screws should hide flat within the wood once fully tightened. Sturdy enough after fully set up.Taller boots won’t fit. The higher rack has a slightly higher clearance than the lower rack.Could fit about 6 pair of shoes.The height of the bench may be short for taller people, but this is just a quick bench to use when putting on or taking off shoes at the door. The whole bench fits exactly in a Rubbermaid mud mat as pictured.Measurements as described.It’s true about the strong painted wood smell similar to new chess pieces out of the box. I’m sure it will die down overtime.Overall it’s a good accent by the door. Will serve its purpose. Priced this way maybe because it is bamboo. Could be better if a little cheaper though.Made in China

Having recently downsized, we were looking for a bench with shoe storage underneath to put in our small entryway. This item fit the bill in terms of size and colour, and the price was right. However, it's more of a shoe storage system that could be used as a bench in a pinch, rather than a true purpose-made bench that also has shoe storage underneath. It may well support 264 lbs, but I'm only 130 and I didn't feel like I could really sit solidly on it like I could on a real chair or bench. Bending over to put on my shoes felt a bit precarious as it's only 11" deep and we have it up against a wall, so I rather felt like I might fall off if I bent over. It's not that it's obviously wobbly or shaky, it just doesn't have the solid feel of a sturdier bench that's actually meant for sitting on. But for the price I can't complain. We're probably going to move it under a low window and just use it as a side table.

I find the color of this bench to be 'off' compared to the pics shown.. I wouldn't call it light grey or dark grey, it's more a blue grey, definitely doesn't 'coordinate' with the greys I have in my apartment.. it's not deep so I will have to sit sideways in order for me foot to come up on the bench but I mainly wanted a hall bench not so much to sit but rather to just prop my foot up onto when I'm standing to do up laces.. 'DO NOT' overtighten the screws and bolts as the bamboo will crack, it happened to me in one spot.. I chose to not attach the one shelf in case anyone has taller footwear.. I find it to be sturdy to sit on but then I'm only 125 lbs. with a small behind 🙂

It's five stars for me in regards to its look, but there are minor issues with its functionality. As others have mentioned, I would not recommend someone over 200lbs to sit on it. I did test it, and it held on, but I was concerned it would crack and break if I attempted to bend over and tie my shoes. Secondly, I think the picture is a bit misleading, as I assumed my pair of boots would fit on the lower shelf, but it doesn't. It's a tight fit on the top shelf, which has a tiny bit more space. Overall, those are unimportant issues to me, as it works for my purpose, but I would recommend buying something else if you need a bench for heavier people to sit on or if you have taller boots.Pros: looks amazing, does not take a lot of space, easy to assemble.Cons: probably can't hold 264lbs, can't fit taller boots, wouldn't fit 6 pairs of bigger shoes on its width (barely fits 6 pairs of women's shoes size 8).

This item is awesome!!! not just for the price (which is great btw, everywhere else that i’ve looked something like this is atleast 100$).It was easy to assemble, you do need to be careful not to spilt the bamboo as you’re tightening the skews but that’s basically with everything we buy.It’s not wobbly at all, i think those who claim that it is might not have tightened something properly. I’m 5’11 and 130 pounds and it’s very easy for me to sit on and get up from!Love it !
