A Rip-Off
This product cost almost as much as the Canon MF 4150 printer I teamed it up with and yet:1) Has both a USB and a LPT1, yet can handle only one printer at a time.2) Does not work well with Windows Vista. I have 2 XP machines and 1 Vista machine on my home network, but must re-set the port each time I boot up on the Vista machine. Have also had the network connection to the printer fail twice on the XP machines.3) Got passed off to Canon when I contacted Axis for customer support. They claimed that product was produced for Canon and Canon was responsible for customer technical support. Canon in turn responded with boilerplate tech support that had no chance of correcting the problems I was having with Vista.I am not sure what the alternatives are, but I would avoid this product if at all possible.

Doesn't work well with Windows Vista 64-Bit
I bought this axis 1650 server and a Canon MF4150 for setting up my home office. Here are some problems I met:1. The CD that came with the server is not for Vista (64bit) - You'll need to download all these software again from Axis website yourself.2. The manual doesn't explain how you can install a printer after you set up the server. (Basically you need to set up a "local printer" with a special port called "AXIS CAPT Port" and then specify the location to your printer's driver.)3. I have problem connecting to my MF4150's scanner using AXIS ScanClient on my Vista 64-bit PC. It says there's an error and never connect successfully. It works fine on my laptop running XP though.

Great Gadget with Bonus Function!
I expected a print server but my research told me that the scanner function could not be shared. I was one happy small office owner on finding out that this user firendly device allowed networking of both printing and scanning in my Canon MF6530 copier/printer/color scanner. I reserve color printing jobs to save on color toners/cartridges

Works...but not as well as I'd like
I can echo the previous reviews. Setting up 4 machines...two Vistas (one 32-bit and one 64-bit) and two XP laptops. PRinting works from all four machines, but server does need to be rebooted (unplugged from power supply) sometimes to re-initialize. I gave up on the CD...programs are older versions...downloaded all programs from the website. Can't seem to scan w/ my Vista 64...computer can't seem to locte the server. Scan and print seem to be working well from both XP machines.

good- and necessary -although I wish it were less $
This print server works great with the MF4150 we have.It takes about 15 minutes to set up the hardware and 10 minutes or so per pc to set up software.Printing is good, and scanning requires some extra steps to capture the scan. You need to lock out the other users while you scan with an additional program.Sometimes it is necessary to reboot, i.e. power off and on, in order to reconnect.Overall, it works very well. Especially considering that I don't think there are any other print servers that will work with the canon MF models- or at least the one I have.So just buy it, after the sting of the high price wears off, the satisfaction of a solid printer on your network will take over.Tom
