Sanity and Sleep Saver!
This clock has been a sanity saver! Our 3 year old was waking up earlier and earlier and with a baby who is up all night, Momma needs all the sleep she can get! After looking at several different alarm clocks that would indicate when she would be allowed to get out of bed, we settled on this Teach Me Time Talking Alarm Clock and Nightlight. We chose this clock for several reasons. First of all, I liked that the ring around the face of the clock is interchangeable. We currently have the pink ring on it for our daughter and when our son is older we will trade it out for the blue ring so it matches his room decor. Secondly, we liked the fact that the clock grows with the child and teaches them about time. The clock is easy to set and I LOVE the fact that the directions are also printed on the clock so I don't have to hunt down the instruction manual any time I need to change it.Another plus is the fact that you can change how long the clock stays green. This was not the case with all of the clocks that we looked at.The nightlight is the perfect brightness for her room. When we first put the clock in her room we set it for 10 minutes past the time that she normally wakes up. Once she got the hang of waiting we pushed the time back 30 minutes at a time until we reached our desired wake up time. She has done really well with staying in her room until it turns green and she loves to run out shouting "My clock turned green! My clock turned green!"I would definitely recommend this clock!

This clock is perfect for children
This clock is perfect for children. It took me a few minutes to figure out the timed lighting instructions but I figured it out. Once set the clock can do several things which help children of different ages. It can turn a different color at a designated time letting young children know when its time to finally bother the parents. It also has an alarm which can be set, as well as, call out the time if your child hits the button. Lastly the nightlight feature, while not the reason I made the purchase, has also been very useful since it can be programmed as well. I would have given it 5 stars but the instructions were not as clear as they could be. Otherwise, it is a great product and I have made very good use of it in my son's room.

Perfect for the early-rising preschooler!
We got this for our 4.5yr old. She has always woken us up very early but it became more of a problem once we had another child we were getting up with throughout the night and early morning hours (she'd hear me up nursing the baby at 4:30 and think she should get up too). Now we set her clock to glow yellow throughout the night and then switch to green at 6:22am. She knows that once it's green she can get out of bed and turn her light on. We've been slowly making the green time later to help her learn to sleep later. She loves it as her second night light and seems to sleep better in the mornings knowing that she'll know for sure when she can wake up. Previously we'd tried sliding a good morning paper under her door around 6am but sometimes the sound of the paper woke her up when she happened to still be sleeping. She also likes pushing the button to hear what time it is. I think this will be the perfect clock as she starts getting serious about learning to tell time since it has the both versions of the time displayed simultaneously. The clock is fairly small but that makes it fit easily on her nightstand with all her other stuff. It's not difficult to program as long as you keep the manual. Without the directions it would take me a while to figure out. We accidentally set the alarm at firt and found that the sound it made isn't too loud and annoying as alarms go (I don't like to feel like a fire engine is racing through my house). I love the fact that it plugs in and I don't have to worry about constant battery replacement. The changeable rings are great too. Being able to put a pink ring on the front made it much more appealing for my girl who sleeps surrounded in pink. And in a few years when she outgrows it I can switch to the blue or yellow ring for her brother.

Bright enough to read a book by! Returned it.
Since my 3-year old son had been waking up at 5am consistently for months, we decided to buy him a clock and teach him what was an acceptable time to wake. Since this product had such good reviews, I thought it would be an ideal choice for a preschooler that can't read a clock reliably. The features and concepts behind this clock are cool...setting a time for the clock to turn a color (green) so your child can see the color and know it's ok to get up is a great idea and simple concept. The problem is that the yellow light on the feet of the clock, which are on all night, cannot be turned down or off. The entire clock glows bright yellow all night and the change to green is such a subtle one, a child could easily miss it. For a clock to go from off/black to a green color makes sense. For a clock to go from a bright yellow to a bright green color makes no sense and would probably keep your kid up at night due to the brightness.I know other reviewers posted about how to open the bowels of the clock and disable the yellow lights, but the fact is, for this price, we shouldn't have to make any alterations to it.We returned it, bought a cheap digital clock with big numbers at the store with the bullseye and taught my son to read "6:30."
