It's a very bright light. I had it installed in the trunk of my car and it works very well. I removed the original the light in the trunk, and connected this light directly to the trunk light wiring, this way, I did not have to use the switch that is provided.

I liked this product soo much that I bought 6 total and I'm gonna buy more for all my cars and my family's cars! This is the best car accessory for nighttime! The convenience!!!!!I really like how the kit has everything you need to hook it up! Easy install and direct connect to the battery!I have one under my hood and I connected 5 together in my trunk because I hate shadows in my trunk because I don't want to lose any small screws etc since I am currently working on my trunk for my project car!I definitely recommend this to all car enthusiasts or even just a normal car owner that does need light in the engine bay.. the convenience of hands free not needing to hold a flash light to check your oil or a quick look at your fluid levels etc..The light goes on automatically once you open the hood and the button is released from the closed position of the hood..Extra bright and water resistant.. could be waterproof tho I haven't tried it.. also, if you don't need this under your hood, you could still use this led strip for anything you need light for. comes with wires already connected to the led strip so no soldering is necessary.. also has a 3m sticky tape to stick to surfaces.. make sure you clean with alcohol on the areas of dirt and oil before sticking the led strip to surfaces.

I bought these as a shop light replacement not as a permant installation. They work nicely as a temporary light to use when working, but I wouldn't install them permanently. Very bright light that is so much better than a typical shop light. The strip works fine on the hood but can also be in tight spots normal lights don’t reach. My only complaint is the the attachment method. The light strip comes with a simple adhesive strip on the back. I didn’t want to permanently attach the strips to my hood so I bought some magnets and magnetic tape and attached the strip to those so I could move it around the engine bay. The magnetic tape wasn’t really strong enough to keep the lights in place by it self, but the magnets worked great. Also not sure what value the switch provides. The light is always on and pushing the switch plunger turns the light off. This is presumably to turn the light off when the hood is closed, but again, I don't plan on installing these permenantly so it doesn’t really cause a problem. The led light stays cool so keeping it on all the time isn’t an issue.In summary, great light at an excellent price that has immediately replaced my other shop lights.

Installed this in our BMW i3's trunk, and it has an excellent light output.I feel confident that the housing of the LED strip will protect it from stuff in our trunk that might hit it, since the LED strip is installed under the parcel shelf, and we transport a lot of toddler gear.The adhesive also seems like it'll stay in place for a long time, as the parcel shelf has a lining that the adhesive seems to stick to very well.The cabling was more than long enough, and I didn't need the fuse or connectors, so I cut them off, since I'm tapping into the existing fused trunk lighting.

Works great, just what i needed to work on my pickup at night. Replaced the old light bulb one that didn't work anymore.

Not super bright but it is a great thing to add on for a just in case situation. the switch seems like it should hold up just and the light has good enough glue. It would be nice if it was expandable but its bright enough as is. the light is nice and clean and looks good.Now for the bad. This is wired wrong. there is only a fuse in the neg ground. IDK how something as simple as this could go wrong but yeah if there is a short on the positive end there is no fuse to pop. Seems like a huge oversight. If you have some butt connectors it is a easy fix, but come on....Try and located it near one of the hood supports so you can find a spot that will have the correct tolerances and your good to go.

So I don't know about the switch, because I didn't use it. I bought a little push in switch, and installed that instead. So that way it doesn't drain my battery during the day.I did, as others mention move the fuse as well. Which did add to the Install time.I also do not have a Liner, so I drilled and Fished the wires through my hood recesses, making it as stealthy as Possible. It could have been much more so, if I didn't install the switch by the hood latch, but alas it seemed the best spot.The LEDs though, are SO Bright. At first when they showed up, and I seen how small the strip was I thought I should of got 2. But they are SO BRIGHT! They truly light up my entire Engine bay. That Engine bay is a Charger, with a Hemi! So it isn't small! The 6500k LEDs make all the colors in my Engine bay look so GOOD! This was less of a work light for me, or more of a Car Shows, Meets, General showing off the Bay at night Light. And I am SUPER happy with how these lights look.The only con is the wires could be a little longer, but likely not a problem for everyone. Big car, awkward way of mounting it.
