Excellent product!
With a price nearly half of what you pay in the store, I was skeptical of its authenticity; however, it comes sealed in the original OtterBox packaging (just like at the store) and is, by all appearances, genuine. It fits perfectly with my iPhone 5 and provides a nice balance of protection without being too bulky. I didn't want a defender series because it's simply too big ---this commuter series is a perfect compromise. Fits in there nice and snug and gives me piece of mind that I don't have to treat my phone like a newborn baby. The only "complaint" I really have is that the screen protector scratches REALLY easily. I know the point is to prevent the actual screen from scratching, which it is doing, but I just put the case on yesterday and I already noticed quite a few scratches on the protector and I haven't even left the house or done anything. The good thing is you can hardly tell there's a protector on the phone...many protectors I've tried before cause the screen quality to suffer, but this doesn't. I don't notice any difference in screen quality; the display is crystal clear just as it is without the protector. And the scratches I see are very superficial and require you to look at just the right angle, for the record. I read reviews of people complaining that it was slippery and the top button was hard to press...I have not experienced this. The shell is smooth plastic, but it's not slippery as parts of the rubber layer provide a nice grip around the edges. I actually prefer it because the "sticky" rubber cases are a pain to try and get in and out of your pocket; the smooth plastic presents no problems. The buttons are not hard to press...some people must have very weak fingers. It fits like a glove and looks great. I love that it also has little flaps that protect the headphone jack and lightning port. The shipping was REALLY fast but I think that's because the seller is located just two hours north of me (according to the tracking it was shipped from Orlando, FL). Overall I definitely recommend this case and the seller! Top notch.

Great and Secure
I would like to preface this review with saying that I have had Otterbox cases on my phones before (I've only had the commuter series) so I'm pretty biased towards them, but I'lll try and give it a fair review! On past phones, namely iPhones, I have had commuter series Otterbox cases to protect my phone and this one is just as successful as the last ones I've had. They protect my phone from the wear and tear of being tossed into my backpack or shoved into my pockets. I put my phone in my pockets a lot, which has proven to be highly destructive to other cases, but my Otterbox case has managed to stay in one piece and still protect my phone. My last phone had the commuter series case for about two years and the hard shell part of the case had just started to get caught in my pocket and break, which for two years of going in and out of my pocket countless times a day, I would say that it's about time it started to show some wear and tear. Overall, for protecting my phone as long as it did and as well as it did, this really doesn't bother me because it lasted MUCH longer than any other case has. I also do not drop my phone very often, but when I do it is one of those accidents where you just don't even want to pick it up because you're sure that your screen will be obliterated and you just don't want to face the truth. Well, since having the commuter series case from Otterbox, I have never had a ding on my phone, let alone a cracked screen. I will also note that I have a screen protector, for what its worth. But I have never had any damage done to my phone whether it's chipping the side or cracking either the front screen or the back. For slim, convenient protection that will keep your phone safe through normal wear and tear, I would recommend this product to any of my friends or family. Pros: Slim, lightweight design Tight fitting Covers headphone and charging port (nice so they don't get dirty) Easy installation on the phone Does not limit button functionality Cons: None yet!

Love it!
I love my new black otterbox commuter for iphone5 because it adds just enough protection without me feeling like I need to purchase a Defender case. I actually like the slight (and I do mean SLIGHT) bulk added because I feel like my phone would be safe considering if I happened to drop it face down. The power button has not been a problem for me, nor have the ports been an issue either. I like that the commuter comes in so many different colors. I orginially purchased the pink and white commuter for asthetics and to support the research towards breast cancer, but was disappointed when the white silicon kept getting dirt, and cleaning it everyday after having only owned it for a week was a drag. I never even put the case in my jeans pockets to prevent the died blue on white silicon look but even then, my case would simply get dirty from being out in the air. It collected dust like crazy and showed up more than I wanted to be exposed. I decided to finally give up, but to find the same case in a different color. I decided on the black commuter offline so to look professional with my white iphone 5 and to add the pink plastic outside layer when wanting my phone to appear a little more girly that had been used with the white silicon. My phone looks awesome and protected at the same time. You can still tell it's an iphone. The only minor issue I have is that the plastic outershell of the case is very slippery. This is great for being able to slip in my pants pocket, but not for holding when my hands are dry (it's winter here and prone to such dryness). When in the car, I just place the phone face down while driving and the silicon won't allow the phone to slip around. Over all, I'm in love with this case! It's a great balance between protection and sleekness. Though it adds a slight more bulk than other feather light crappy cases you can buy. Those won't protect your phone, this one will. Thank you Amazon and Otterbox!

CAUTION - DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PACKAGING OPTION AND WHERE IT IS MADE!
Buyer Beware - Depending on where the case you receive is made will determine the fit. Make sure when you receive your's it says "Made in USA" on the inside of BOTH the rubber insert and plastic outer cover. I can't say for sure if my experience with the two different packaging options will be consistent with others, but hopefully this helps. I'll preface by saying, I love the commuter series when I had it for my iPhone 4 and was looking forward to the same balance between the sleek design and protection. Thus, it seemed like a no-brainer to get this for my iPhone 5s, however I was disappointed the first attempt in receiving this case. 1st Attempt - I ordered the "Frustration-Free Packaging" option and received a case that fit very poorly. Following in suit to some of the 3 star and below complaints/ reviews on here, the "Frustration-Free" packaged case did not fit right at all. The rubber sides bulged out, the covers for the ports did not completely close, and did not feel right at all. After further inspection, the Outer Cover was "Made in USA" and the inner rubber bumper was "Made in China", as is noted when you look inside each piece. (Note: Otterbox is having serious problems with counterfeits from China entering the market, which may explain this experience.) 2nd Attempt - After reading more reviews online and realizing other peoples frustrations with the "Made in China" cases vs. the successes of the "Made in USA", I decided to order again, but this time the "Retail Packaging" option. I just received this one yesterday and it is SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER. The fit is perfect, the port covers close, and the rubber noticeably feels smoother than the "Made in China". For this reason, I give the "real" commuter case 4 stars as it lived up to my expectations, although the hassle of dealing with the "Made in China" version was more than I had bargained for. Again, I can't guarantee that ordering the "Retail Packaged" option will yield you a "Made in USA" version of this case vs the "Frustration Free" option, but more importantly, make sure that both parts of the case are "Made in USA".

Offers great protection!
I am not going to write a complete review, but I have to chime in on an 'issue' people are commenting on regarding this case. No, this case is not sleek, it's a !@$*& otter box. If you bought this case, or are considering buying this case, it's because you want to protect your phone and prevent any damage from occurring. This phone is perfect for that purpose. It may not still be as small as just the phone in your pocket, but who expects that when they buy an otter box? This case protects my phone great. It has a silicone insert which you put your phone into first, and then you put it into the hard, outer shell. This case even comes with a screen protector. Well worth the money in my opinion. And on another note, the power button is not as hard to press as people make it sound, and I am sure it will get easier to press the longer you own the case. The only thing I might say could be improved upon would be to put rubber on the bottom side of the case (perhaps a rubber bumper in each corner) to prevent it from sliding around. I have noticed when I toss the phone on my desk, it slides quite a bit. Perhaps my desk is just clean, but that's the only thing I could nit pick about this wonderful case.

Great protection
I recently switched from an Android to an iPhone 5, and I was disheartened to find most iPhone cases don't offer enough protection for the slender phone. Most of my friends who have ruined their iPhones dropped them and shattered the gorilla glass screens within a month of purchase. After paying for a $750 phone, I wasn't about to take any chances. The Otterbox Commuter Case (or any Otterbox, for that matter) was the first case I found that offered a bumper that would protect the phone if it fell screen down. The screen protector (which thankfully didn't come with adhesive solution like my Android's screen protector) was easy to apply and install, and I love that the Otterbox comes with a soft rubber shell which fits into the harder outer case for two layers of damage absorption. With all three pieces on the phone, it looks similar in size and width to the iPhone 4s, but that doesn't really bother me. I'd much rather have a safe phone. In fact, it makes the phone easier to hold. The holes for the camera and flash are large enough not to interfere with pictures, which has been a problem with some of the sleeker cases. I also love the dustflap protecting the charging port and headphone connection. It's sturdy, but easy enough to pull away to fit the charging cable. Although a few people have complained about the stiff rubber buttons, but with enough use, they break in just fine. If you want a case that will really protect your phone (not just accessorize it), the Otterbox is a clear winner.

THE BEST BALANCE OF COST, PROTECTION & PRACTICALITY!!
This is my second Otterbox Commuter. The first one for my iPhone 4S was durable and relatively slim enough to slip into a shirt or pants pocket when available. It protected my phone on the several waist-high"drops" that are an inevitable reality when using any mobile device. When it came time to upgrade to the 5S, there was no question that I would continue my happy relationship with the Otterbox Commuter! Heck, it's even more svelte and well-made than its predecessors, especially with the newer & lighter 5 series iPhones! What this product does is strike a reasonable compromise between the bulky and awkward industrial grade phone protectors and the practicality of slipping the phone discreetly and comfortably into any available pocket. Now granted, you won't get a waterproof, freeze proof, drop-off-a-cliff proof, Zombie-attack proof phone protector with this case....but who among us really NEEDS that level of assurance? Might as well buy a brick to hide your phone in! This case will serve 99% of us klutzes quite well and did I mention at a fraction of the cost of its more robust cousins?

Nice but too slippery.
Iโve had a Defender for my iPhone 5 for over 4 years and itโs great. It did its job without fail. Apart from the dust in the speaker ports my phone looked the same as the day I bought it 4 years ago. The case fell apart a few times and Otterbox replaced it a couple of times for me at no cost which was great! I just got an iPhone SE and I thought a slimmer case like the Commuter would be fine for me. I don't need the clip that the Defender has and I wanted less bulk for my pocket so the Commuter made sense. Having just now put my SE in the case I already know I'm not happy with my purchase. I did not have a problem installing the screen protector others mention in their reviews. It went on quick and easy with no bubbles and I centered it pretty well. I didn't even need the installation card tool they give you. Iโd say itโs the same difficulty if not easier than the other ones on the market. So good job Otterbox on that issue. The rubber part of the case went on with relative ease . It just required some minor stretching get it properly over the edges of the phone face. The plastic outer shell is a different story and in my opinion ruins the whole product. It was a little more challenging to install. It went on with some extra effort and makes for a very snug fit which is normally fine. It really finishes the look and properly aligns the rubber part of the case. It looks very nice when the installation is complete. However, once the installation was complete I noticed the issues others had mentioned. Perhaps the cover is a bit too snug. The Commuter does not give the familiar click I had with the Defender when using the power button on top of the phone. In fact the power button is overly rigid and difficult to push as many others have mentioned. The port covers on the bottom are easy enough to open but take a little wiggling to correctly close. I can understand how some other reviewers would complain about them being difficult to open and close. I can see them not lasting too long because they seem overly tight because of the plastic case. Although the previously mentioned issues are mildly annoying they don't even compare to the super slippery plastic cover. The slick plastic cover is so infuriating that I'm considering returning it for a Defender and has propelled me to write a review which is not something I am prone to doing. My phone slid off my my flat desk and I didnโt touch it. Okay that didnโt happen but if my desk had a s I strongly prefer the Defenderโs rubber outer shell that provides a good gripping surface. In a side by side comparison the Commuter is only a few millimeters smaller than the Defender. The difference was scarcely noticeable. I was expecting a much smaller sized case. I was sorely disappointed by the difference. On a positive note the touch home button is completely unobstructed by any plastic and that is a great feature. It does appear to be sturdy and it seems like it will do its job of protecting the phone. It better...because if I keep this case I see many drops in the future. I really donโt see me keeping this case. Itโs that slippery! I just have to hope Amazon lets me return it because Iโve already installed the screen protector on my phone. Amazon?

Looks great, survives drops and pocket carrying... for awhile!
I bought this for my husband, he loves it. The materials are top quality and will not stretch out or wear away. Worth the money. UPDATE February 4 2018, this case finally cracked across the back, we will have to get a new one. My husband carries his phone in his pocket most of the time...

What you see is what you get.
Though the order took time but it was worth the wait. So good to have such foreign brands available to the people in the most remotest of places in India. Job well done amazon. You are the best in the business we have here in India.
