There are loads of loose ends at end of series, that can be delved into for more series.Fantastic continuation of a epic grand adventure of a plain jane like Cinderella type, who discovers that she is so much more than her looks and station would have you believe. Rainier, the King of the Faye, is desperate to save his people and kin from their slow extinction, 1 child born in 1000 years, for example. Yet also the Tairan? spelling? Giant magical fire breathing pumas, of various color patterns, are dieing out as well. The babies are dying inside their eggs, and in trying to save them. Their mommas end up dieing, too. A powerful magic item, called the EYE. Gives the Rainier a murky vision of a green eyed, red haired woman in a allied city. Much to everyone’s surprise, and to Rains’. The kind hearted and unpretentious young lady Ellesetta, is a soulmate to Rain. Which causes trouble of a political and personal nature. 1) She’s a Artisans daughter. 2) She was engaged...see book 1, Lord’s of the Fading Lands,” to get the whole story. 3) Her internal beauty outshines her outer. 4) She has a few important things she really should tell her royal soulmate for her own safety. 5) She’s got a lot of other people extremely interested in her continued safety, or wanting to kill her, capture her, and or use her.The plot is thick, steady, and a nonstop adventure and it is very easy to care about these MCs. Just buy the series of 5 books. They’re a keeper!

4.5 stars! I knew I should have held out to buddy read this... I am all up in my feels! What has made me this blubbering mess you ask? Romance isn't dead ya'll its all up in this book! Gah!Im am so incredibly frustrated by these characters I just want to scream. Everyone is being manipulated and intrigue is everywhere and yet the good is there it just can't spread because of all this retardedness... how is that not a word I'm pretty sure I use it regularly.In this book Ella and Rain are preparing for their wedding and the High Mage is preparing for his evil plans. We had some amazing revelations about Ella and her parentage... DUN DUN DUUUUUNNNN! It is obvious Ella is something new.. and noone but Rain can see she is what is needed to save them all. I just hope she sees it before its too late!Such a great book but the anxiety is super high. I will say the plot though super involving and interesting does move a little slow at times and with the suspense of the moments I want to scream for some closure already... Its only book 2 I don't know how I am going to make it!

The book still surrounds the upcoming marriage of the ‘mortal’ Ellie and Rain the Fey. Ellie’s own heritage is explored, along with the tension her upcoming marriage has on her relationship with her mother and her best friend. There is politics, religion, evil magicians, racism, secrets and mind control at the center of the tale that Wilson weaves.On the sexual nature front is that Rain swears an oath to not have physical relationships with Ellie prior to the marriage. One problem is that they have sex in the spirit with all that entails. So Fey can have sex via spirit and physically. So they technically don’t have physical Sex but circumvent an oath. Ellie is always like geez I don’t know what came over me. Wow good girl gone bad!At about seventy percent Rain becomes an asshat as he whom killed millions of people turn away from Ellie, as her heritage is revealed. I understand while it was done, as a way to expand the story, but he is still a full asshat. He would rather choose death than his truemate. He leaves her vulnerable and sets her up be prayed upon. Bravo Rain Bravo total Putz. Oh her guards are more steadfast than Rain. The Fey hate the entire Eld race rather than those Mages who control the people, people who are marked as babes. Then Ellysetta (Ellie) accepts him back, she therefore is an asshat. So two asshats are meant for each other.Everyone except her guard betray her, and this disloyalty includes her own mother. Wow. Yes Ellie is adopted and this adopted mom is among the worse as she truly loved her daughter but hated magic and fey more. Then I can’t even have a good hate on for her as she goes and sacrifices herself in the end. Blah Blah Blah hells road is paved with good intentions.Yes, I can be critical of the characters in this book and it’s because they are flawed that I recommend the book. The book is full of grey areas; as the world of Elron is full of grey.

2 1/2 stars would be better. I read the first book ok. Some of it dragged and I swear this “3 weeks until you can get married” crap is endless. The animal form chosen for the fae in this novel is weird. The heroine annoys me but I still want to know how she came to be. Is she fae? Mage? Some combo or something else? I sort of feel like this question IS the whole story and all the other stuff in the book is just filler. Not sure how many books are in this series but I’m pretty sure there’s only developed plot line for one book. I’m getting tired of authors (especially fantasy authors) doing this. Can’t they just write ONE really good book? Not everything has to be in multiples.

Not enough words to express how wonderful it’s been reading this Book, this Serie ❤️ !!! The world building is really stunning and the love story between Rain & Ellie is told in a beautiful way. In this second book we have not pleasant moments tough. Rain has to face his prejudice and conquer his fears as Ellie as well . However, all this lead them to a beautiful and rewarding outcome : love !!! Therefore, I deeply, truly recommend this Book, this Serie to all lovers of a very good fantasy romance! Already moving to the 3rd Book of this serie! Can’t wait to read what holds next !

The second in the series; this book continues where the first one ended - after the disaster at the formal dinner and Ellie's nightmare so immediately Rain must deal with this new threat to his truemate and the damage of Ellie's weave on the lords who will vote on whether to allow the deadly Eld into Celieria.As with the first book this one has a richness to it; the story has lots of depth and Wilson has packed it with such detail that you get completely absorbed. I don't want to give too many spoilers but this book reveals Ellie's mysterious origins and her and Rain face a real test to their growing relationship which threatens their impending nuptials. Ellysetta's powers begin to reveal themselves in a way the fey never expected and their Feyreisa is at risk from those she should trust the most. What makes this series great is that nothing is rushed; the romance between Ellie and Rain develops slowly (instead of the norm where everything seems to happen too fast) which makes it more realistic (impressive in a book with giant winged cats come to think of it!)This book is amazing and i cannot wait to start reading King of sword and sky which will she Ellysetta and Rain return to the Fading Lands.

Second installment of the series was everything and more that I wanted it to be.Still hunted because of who and what she is leaves many wondering if love can triumph. with something trying and killing the kits that are left can they save the ones that are left and destroy them all...This author is amazing in her artistry and one to watch in the future.

I actually love this series it is fast becoming a favourite of mine. all the characters including the bad guys have lots of personality and depth to them. The storylines are captivating with lots of twists and turns here and there that keep you on the edge of your seat begging to find out more ☺ I know I am roll on reading book 3 😬😍. All the stars in the sky from me I loved every single page 💘.

Much better than book 1, far more action in it and less 'on heat' angst by Rain. To be honest I thought that she could have shortened book 1 somewhat. Here we have the character of Gaelen coming to kill Elly because he believes that she is the daughter of the Mage of Eld and will destroy the fey. Elly is coming into her magic, but still cannot call it to her when she intentionally wants to. Elly's mother is becoming paranoid about the fey and feels that they are evil and turning her daughter into something evil. So she embarks on a course of action which may mean either Elly's life, or sending her to the Eld Mage. Meanwhile Rain is trying to persuade the Celierian council of nobles not to enter into a trade agreement with Eld, thereby opening their borders to Eld and its Mages.

I finished the Throne of Glass series and heard Sarah J. Maas took a lot of insp from this book. It is a really interesting read and so far I'm really enjoying the series.

Okay I finished this book in two days, I just couldn't put it down and now I can't stop thinking about it! They story was even better than the first book, whenever you thought the story was already complex and all the scenes perfeclty bound together - boom! it surprises you again with turns you didn't expect and it gets more captivating and suspenseful (I think that's the word that describes best the final chapters!) Especially in the end with all the action and the powerful feelings I just felt that I couldn't read fast enough!

I really like this series as it combines epic fantasy with romance seamlessly.

Es strahlt Magie aus und das passt ja hervorragend zu diesem High Fantasybuch. Für mich ein wunderschönes und passendes Cover.Kurze Inhaltsbeschreibung[Spoiler für Band I]Elly und Rain sind seit dem ersten Buch ein ganzes Stück weiter in ihrer Beziehung. Ihre Hochzeit rückt näher und mit jedem Treffen, der beiden kommen sich Elly und Rain näher. Sie gewinnen Vertrauen zueinander und Elly verliebt sich in Rain. Doch die Mages infiltrieren ihre Freunde, manipulieren die, die ihr wichtig sind, um die Verbindung zwischen ihr und Rain zu verhindern und Elly in ihre Gewalt zu bringen. Kann Rain Elly beschützen? Wird es ihre Liebe aushalten, wenn herauskommt, wer Elly wirklich ist?Schreibstil und StoryverlaufDer Schreibstil der Autorin ist einfach wunderschön. Sie erschafft eine komplett eigene Welt, die man sich als Leser hervorragend vorstellen kann. Man hat sofort die Stadt vor Augen, die Figuren und die verschiedenen Orte. Es gelingt ihr spielend leicht einen mitzunehmen in diese Welt, die etwas Magisches und ganz Besonderes ist. Der Verlauf der Story ist spannend und in sich schlüssig. Es besteht eine gute Mischung aus Handlungsszenen und emotional orientierten Szenen. Ein gutes Wechselspiel zwischen Romantik und Spannung.Die Charaktere und ihre EntwicklungElly hatte ich ja bereits in mein Herz geschlossen. Genauso Rain. Die beiden sind einfach ein ganz tolles Liebespaar und es ist berührend und süss ihre Entwicklung mitzuverfolgen. Aber auch die vielen anderen Figuren, die anderen Fey und Ellys Familie sind mir sehr ans Herz gewachsen. Mir hat es unheimlich gut gefallen, dass einige in diesem zweiten Band beinah eine eigene Story bekommen haben. So manche Entwicklungen haben mich tief berührt und mitgenommen. Ich hoffe, dass auch im dritten Band wieder die Charaktere im Mittelpunkt stehen. Denn der zweite Teil war unheimlich stark, was die charakterliche Entwicklung angeht.FazitEin starker zweiter Band, eine tolle Fortsetzung, eine grandiose Reihe. Ich liebe die Welt von Elly und Rain. Ihre Freunde und Feinde, die ausgewogene Mischung zwischen Spannung, Magie und Romantik. Für alle Fans von Fantasybüchern ein klares Must Read.

*Der zweite Band "Lady of Light and Shadows" schliesst den ersten Handlungsbogen ab. Die Handlung selber ist dabei um einiges spannender als im ersten Band. Dafür sorgen die vielen dramatischen und meist unvorhersehbaren Wendungen, die hier stattfinden.Rain und Ellie lernen sich durch ihre häufigen Ausflüge besser kennen ... inklusive ihrer Körper ( sexuelle Magie ist schon ziemlich reizvoll )! Damit steigt auch der Erotik-Pegel im Vergleich zum ersten Band deutlich an. Aber abgesehen davon, bekommt Elysetta auch noch magischen Unterricht für Anfänger verpasst ( ich liebe magischen Unterricht! ^^ )Alte Intrigen tragen langsam Früche, neue Intrigen entstehen, wobei die Anstifter den verschiedensten Seiten angehören. Verwechslungen, Missverständnisse und Vorurteile sind der perfekte Nährboden dafür. Und die eldischen Schwarzmagier versuchen auch weiterhin die celieranische Herrschaft zu untergraben um freie Fahrt für eine Invasion zu haben.Was ihnen leider zu gelingen scheint.Neue Geheimnisse entstehen ( v.a. Elysettas Herkunft erweist sich als nicht so eindeutig, wie es mir als Leser zu Anfang noch erschien ), Beziehungs-Komplikationen und diverse Überraschungen folgen ... nicht nur bei den Protagonisten, sondern auch bei anderen Charakteren ( wobei man als Leser erkennt, daß "Seelengefährtentum" auch ein Fluch sein kann ).Die Grenzen zwischen Gut & Böse verwischen etwas. Alles deutet daraufhin, daß das Ganze auf eine kolossale Katastrophie hinsteuert.Und Elysettas prophezeites Schicksal ist es entweder die Retterin oder Zerstörerin der alten Weltordnung zu sein.Dementsprechend fällt das Finale extrem dramatisch und actionreich aus.Dabei scheut die Autorin nicht davor zurück, auch mal liebgewonnene Charaktere sterben zu lassen.Ach ja. Auch wenn das Hauptaugenmerk auf der Charakterentwicklung liegt, erfährt man natürlich immer wieder mal ein bisschen mehr über die Welt, in welcher die Geschichte spielt.Es kommen hier auch ein paar Elfen bzw. Elfenmischlinge in Persona vor. Spätestens nach deren Auftritt, kann so mancher Leser die vielleicht noch insgeheim gehegte Vorstellung knicken, daß es sich bei den Fey um Elfen mit romanspezifischem Namen handelt ( was auch den dt. Titel des ersten Bandes Reductio ad absurdum führt ).FAZIT:Wer den ersten Band gelesen hat, kommt nicht umhin auch den Zweiten zu lesen.PS: Der erste Band ist auch auf deutsch erhältlich, allerdings unter dem total irreführenden Titel  Im Bann des Elfenkönigs . Der zweite Teil der "Tairen Soul"-Reihe knüpft nahtlos an den ersten Band an und ist somit von Anfang an spannend. Die Autorin hält sich nicht unnötig mit Wiederholungen der vorherigen Geschichte auf, sondern hält den gleichmäßigen Handlungsfluss aufrecht. Ich war so gefesselt, dass ich den Roman quasi in einem Rutsch durchgelesen habe, da sich die Dramatik immer weiter aufbaut, um in einem großartigen Höhepunkt zu Enden. Als Leser bekommt man kaum Möglichkeiten durchzuatmen.Alles in allem ist "Lady of Light and Shadows" wesentlich düsterer, brutaler und trauriger als "Lord of the Fading Lands". Man leidet mit den Haupt- und Nebenpersonen mit, da sich immer mehr Hürden und Probleme auftun, die die Charaktere zu überwinden haben.Gefreut hat es mich, endlich den "Dark Lord", Gaelan, Bruder von Marissya und bekanntester Dahl'reisen kennen zu lernen. Trotz seiner eher schwierigen Situation war er mir sofort sympathisch. Bekanntschaft konnte man auch mit einem weiteren Volk, den Elves, also die klassischen Elfen/Elben, machen. Ich hoffe, dass man von ihnen noch mehr mitbekommt, da ich sie bisher noch nicht einschätzen kann.Man erfährt mehr über Ellysettas Herkunft, die herzergreifend, traurig und romantisch zugleich ist. Auch wenn man immer wieder das Gefühl bekommt, dass manche Geheimnisse zu offensichtlich sind, gibt es überraschende Wendungen. Erst denkt man "Ah, genau so hab ich das auch vermutet!", um dann wenig später einzusehen "Oh, okay, ist doch nicht so wie gedacht.". Am Ende ist dann aber doch nicht alles so wie es scheint und ganz gelöst sind auch noch nicht alle Rätsel, es folgen schließlich noch drei hoffentlich genauso spannende Bände. :-)Die Beziehung zwischen Rain und Ellysetta entwickelt sich immer mehr ins positive, was sich auf die Anzahl der Liebesszenen auswirkt. ;-) Diese sind häufiger als im ersten Band vertreten, allerdings noch im Rahmen und keinesfalls aufdringlich. Schade fand ich, dass Ellysetta etwas zu verständnisvoll auf Rain's Vertrauensbruch reagiert hat, trotz der sonst reichtlich vertretenden Dramatik, hätte ich mir mehr Spannung gewünscht.Fazit:Insgesamt eine überzeugende Fortsetzung, die genauso fesselt wie der Vorgänger, allerdings auch brutalere und traurigere Züge zeigt.
