Good power drill
I ordered this Dewalt cordless power drill as I wanted a reliable power drill for just occasional use around the house. The battery of my previous power drill purchased years ago went dead and a replacement battery was just too expensive (cost almost as much as the drill), so I had to junk it. I wanted a Li-Ion battery (this one comes with 2 Li-Ion batteries) as they seem most reliable without the memory problems of NiCads. Li-Ion you can charge whenever without worries (just don't leave them plugged in unnecessarily. I used this Dewalt drill on a large fence: the drill is reasonably light-weight (NiCad batteries are heavy but Li-Ion are much lighter), did the job (over 3 days off-and-on) on the same battery, and it recharged in 40 minutes (I timed it) with a charger & a red light that goes from blinking to steady on when charged (the charger's blinking light will also tell if there are line problems by blinking differently). It has a decent rugged carrying case. My plan is to only charge 1 battery since I don't use a drill that often, and perhaps 5 years in the future when this battery wears out, then I will charge the 2nd battery and start using that. The chuck held the bit reliably (NOTE: per instructions, you have to tighten the chuck when the chuck rotation is locked in the mid-position). It comes with 2 additional double-ended bits. I intend to have this drill around for a long time. I still have 2 previous drills with power cords, 1 from my wife's father (REAL OLD!), and they've lasted forever and very reliable but I wanted a portable one this time.

Very Nice!
I purchased this kit after my Bosch finally died after dropping it on the concrete floor. The 18V has plenty of power and torque to handle jobs around the house. The drill is well balanced with the battery attached, and will sit where you put it. The length of the drill itself works well in tighter places. The battery charges quickly. Yes, the Lithiom Ion batteries don't give any warning when they are about to be exhausted, but on the other hand, provide full power up to that point. And with the spare provided, there's never a problem of not having enough juice to do most any job a homeowner would use this for. It's easy to set the TQ setting to drive screws, and the controls are easy to operate while using. The LED light is very handy in lighting up the area you are drilling, so there is no need to hold a flashlight in your mouth or have an assistant. For my needs, this drill is perfect! If you have one of the batteries on the charger, there is room in the case to carry the small case of drill bits or drivers that are recommended by Amazon to purchase along with the drill.8/17/12 I have charged the batteries one time since I purchased this drill kit. I charged both batteries at that time. I have used the same battery since then, doing several small jobs around the house like hanging pictures, screwing self tapping screws, etc. I am still on the same battery!! I don't know how this would work out for a contractor, but for the average homeowner who wants a nice drill for "normal" use, this one is great. I drilled some 2" deep holes with a 1/2" bit in hard wood and had no issues with enough Torque to get the job done.

DeWalt DCD760KL Cordless Drill/Driver
Very happy with the DeWalt DCD760KL Cordless Drill/Driver. I have the power to do all my odd jobs around the house. Battery charge time is short. Battery life is strong and provides the same power from start to finish. Like I had read in other reviews, the battery or drill gives no indication that the battery is low and stops immediately. Since I was prepared for this it really does not bother me because I always have the second battery charged and ready to go. The torque from the drill is what I was missing when I was putting up cabinets in the laundry room. The design of being small and compact with the multiple torque settings and levels of torque have been what I expected when buying this product. The chuck grip is very good about not slipping, this was one of my concerns with my last drill (introductory craftsman drill). Also noticed the light weight design made definitely reduced the fatigue. Definitely recommend theDeWalt DCD760KL Cordless Drill/Driver.

A good product with minor cons...
Excellent drill with lots of power and torque. Lithium Ion batteries are light weight and charge quickly. Well balanced drill and it seems to weigh less than my old 12v NiCad DeWalt drill.Just a couple of minor issues:When the batteries get low the drill just stops. Period. Unlike the NiCad drill that just turns slower and slower as the batteries discharge, the Lithium battery just shuts off. The point is you have little warning that the battery needs to be swapped. The other minor issue is the drill is louder than I expected emitting a high pitched squeal when operating. Other than that, I love it so far.

great tool
I use this all the time ! The hard plastic box it came with is a nice bonus (it fits an extra battery and a box of drill bits). This is my go-to tool for all the work around the house. It's compact enough that it fits in a lot of tight places (inside narrow cupboards for example). The key-less chuck works perfectly, and the tool has plenty of power for most uses around the house. The speed control is also very nice, but unlike the older drill I had, as soon as you release the trigger all the way, the bit stops dead (brushless motor). The torque clutch works well, never had a problem with it.The batteries charge fast with the provided charger, and they last plenty of time. When you run out of juice, put the new battery in and the new one on the charger, and by the time you run out of juice again, the first battery will be done charging. I also use them with the DeWalt cordless jigsaw, but they drain very fast with it.The only feature I'm not a big fan of is the LED light : the angle between the LED and the chuck is too small and the chuck causes a large shadow right where you need the light !
