Globalization and Diversity: Geography of a Changing World (4th Edition)

Bought this for a class. It was so much cheaper to purchase from Amazon than any other textbook retailer. It served its purpose well.

As an older woman returning to college, I picked Geography as on of my classes for the semester imagining in my mind specifics about what we were going to learn in class. I was wrong. It was so much more. I am sad that I have to return this book because the class was amazing. The class and this book made me feel as if I visited parts of the world I didn't know existed.It was very in-depth and surprisingly very up to date. This book contains all important historical information that has happened even after and 9-11. For each continent it talked about world globalization, environment, regions, temperatures, climate change, politics, conflicts, farming, trades, money, culture, language, migrations, land area, seas, lakes, mountains, drug trades, "The Red Market", everything! Also, it is very clearly written, very easy to understand with beautiful picture illustrations that include maps and sub heads to describe what is happening in a scene. Tables that show rates of population increase, who's increasing their population and how many cultures are not. GIS maps that give you a true look at what's going on with detailed explanation. This book is very well done.Although I found the chapters were very long and it would take more than a day or evening to get through one, they all had links to videos to watch which I found to be faster and extremely interesting and helpful in learning about certain areas of the world when time wasn't on my side, and those going to college know exactly what I mean.Anyone thinking about taking this class, especially those taking journalism and or photography who may be interested in making documentaries or those who like to travel or those just interested in the world should take this class and have the professor use this book! I am a photography major and love to travel and this class inspired me and fueled my desire even more to get out there and explore the world. I was sad to see the class end last night. This book made me feel as if I took off on a world tour adventure and now its over. Out of all my travels this was the best trip I have ever been on.Thank you for the rental of this book. I hope someone else gets as much out of it as I did.

Not what I was expecting

The 5th edition costs so much more when I bought the 4th edition for a lot less. Just as good for my college course. Saved me about $100. :)

Chapters were so long. Wish they broke it down into better sections. Sometimes I felt like it jumped around too much on topics or stayed on one topic for far longer than it should have. It did do its purpose though and I did learn.

rented for a semester. great condition and did the job. no problem with returns.

Book was a little beat up, but the binding is good and all the pages are here. A steal at $15. $110 cheaper than used from the school bookstore.

Great book! It wasn't what my professor requested by I kept it for it's valuable information!

Required textbooks for college/university is.. a waste of money. All of the information you can google.Still I was forced (against my will) to purchase this thingProduct in kindle was good. Just never used it after the semester. I recommend you learn to use google and other sources.
