Accurate from DC to 60Hz, well made
I purchased this for a relatively inexpensive way to measure DC bias supplies in electrostatic loudspeakers (approx. 4kV). It's 1GΩ input impedance aids accuracy because it presents very little load to the measured circuit. It works very well in this application up to the power line fundamental. It would not be useful for power line harmonics measurement since it filters out higher frequencies. Fluke doesn't publish the bandwidth of this device, thus I measured it myself using an 80V pk-pk sweep and have attached the transfer function with this review.

Electrophobia
I purchased this HV probe for use with discharging CRT monitors after reading that this was the "safest" way to go. Since it was my first time and after reading all of the warnings of electrocution I was paranoid about building my own tool using a screwdriver, wire and alligator clip. The price of admission was a little high for something that I am not going to use on a regular basis, but it beats ending up on the Darwin Awards list. When it came time to discharge 2 CRT monitors in arcade cabinets I was so paranoid I had my wife watch from a safe distance with phone in hand ready to dial 911.With one hand in my pocket, the HV probe connected to my multimeter and the clip on the monitor frame I shoved the probe behind the anode cap and... nothing! No pop. No reading on the multimeter. Nothing! While my wife is looking at me like I'm an idiot I probably spent 30 minutes triple-checking that I had done everything correctly and that the multimeter was set properly. It appears that these monitors self discharge, but it's always better to be safe than sorry!I have not attempted to measure anything with power supplied to it yet and I don't think I will. At the end of the day owning this thing only makes it appear that I know what I'm doing.

Easy to use
I used this product for an oscilloscope electronic's tube testing. It needs à 10 MOhm impedance multimeter and an earth contact - like a shield - in the nearby zone of exploration. Accurate measures at the 1:1000 ratio.

Probe too short and fat
This a wonderful, accurate device for measuring high voltage. Unfortunately, the designers assumed that all high voltage objects are large and unobstructed by protective cages or other means. The diameter of the conductive tip is about 1/4 inch, making it incompatible with probe accessories. I would prefer a long insulated probe, with a short conductive tip.
