Excellent for OTA Firmware Updates
I'm a Hubitat user. After receiving a recommendation from a forum, I purchased this to perform over the air (OTA) firmware updates to some of my Z-Wave devices.Connected to my Windows 10 Surface Pro with ease. I've updated numerous devices without any issue - well except the one I put the wrong firmware on (my bad). It's fast, small, and compatible.

Great way to add Z-Wave integration to Raspberry Pi
I thought for years I'd have to get a smart home hub and pay a subscription fee every month to control my Z-Wave enabled door lock. That wasn't the case! Plugging this dongle into a Raspberry Pi 4 and pairing it with a free program on the Pi called Home Assistant has allowed me to control my front door lock from the Pi completely free of charge. With some tweaks I can even get it working through HomeKit and have the ability to control the lock from my iPhone. This dongle worked flawlessly and was easy to set up. Highly recommended.

Do NOT buy this stick if your implementation will need a license. Which, BTW use with a WD My Cloud will.
I am sure that these sticks work just fine if you don't need a license, but if you do need a license don't buy this one. Also, don't buy one for use with a WD my cloud, as you will need a license for that despite what the description says in the ad.Note that the support team was very helpful in helping me troubleshoot my issues and referred me to sales to buy a license, only to never hear from the sales team. I did manage to contact the US distributer, who replied that they do not sell licenses separately and that had I purchased a stick from them it would have come with a license. Which, if you do need one, I would recommend.

Works perfectly well. There is no license needed, ...
Works perfectly well. There is no license needed, this just works out of the box.The packaging claims that you should not plug it directly into your computer but should use an extension cable. I'm doing this but I have no idea if it is needed or not.The Aeon Labs USB controller has the advantage of an internal battery and can be reset by using the button the USB dongle. If you don't care about either feature, save yourself $$$.

It may work well, but documentation is horrid
This stick may be full on features, but light on documentation and heavy on technical jargon. I'm on my 4th hour of trying to do a simple firmware update and I'd consider myself a pretty technical-minded person who's comfortable with firmware upgrades and JTAG procedures.Search for the company's 229 page "Z-Way Essentials" PDF. If its content overwhelms you or you're not a true nerd tech expert, don't bother. Forum help involves Linux and knowing about serial ports and undocumented bootloader vs firmware versions.Either way - it's ridiculous to think you'd spend more than even half an hour to do a firmware upgrade.
