Fun Challenge!
I had just completed the Teddy Bear 3D puzzle and saw the dog and thought it was adorable, so I bought that next. I wish it would have come with sticker eyes and a nose though like the Teddy Bear did to make the dog not seem like a ghost. It would have given it more character and bring it to life a little bit more, but whatever. Anyway, I was trying to figure out if it really did come with the little doggy bowl accessory or not, because it didn't really say and the picture on the box did not show it. But yay, mine did! You don't even have to assemble it, it's just a side piece. The puzzle itself wasn't too hard. The dowel rod goes in the middle to hold it all together, just like the rest of these. Just be careful not to put the end cap pieces on first before you insert the rod or you'll just have to pop it back off! A crude lesson I have quickly learned when assembling these puzzles. All-in-all, the dog one wasn't too bad. Wish it would have come with eyes and nose stickers, but can't fault it for that.

A ton of fun!!! Had no idea how challenging this would be for kids and adults alike.
How hard can a 40-piece puzzle really be? Seriously, I've done 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles. This has to be a piece of cake... Here's my thoughts:- It was far more difficult than I ever imagined it would/could be. It took my 9-year old daughter and I about an hour or so to do it together. This included a couple of restarts as this was our first one to put together. A little trial-by-fire needed to take place to get up to speed on the best way to do these.- Some hints we learned... Start from the bottom and work your way up. Don't skip any pieces as the way they interlock, they can be connected to the pieces to the side, below, or above that particular piece. There's a connecting pin (in this one, there's two, one from the bottom up and one from the top down). The pin going up from the bottom needs to be installed at the beginning and then you can build the puzzle up around it. We tried to install it after holding the pieces together in-hand the whole way up from the bottom. This was a major pain and we even dropped it twice (I admit it was me). Working up around the pin made this far easier. No more messes and restarts.Overall, this puzzle was a lot of fun. At first my 9-year old wasn't excited about this and didn't want to put it together. Said it was too hard. We worked on it together, and after we were done she jumped onto her Amazon account and ordered 2 more. Guess that pretty wraps up how much fun and challenging they are, but how a kid (both little and big kids) can enjoy them as well.I hope I have helped your purchasing decision of this product. Great gift for anyone
I purchased a quite a few of these 3D puzzles from this manufacture for Christmas gifts this year, and i would say that they are all equally amazing! I did purchase one from another manufacturer, and it was good, but no where near as good as these. Once you figure out the pattern and lay all of the pieces out in front of you, then the puzzle becomes less challenging. Some people might even be able to see this pattern the second they open the bag and look at the pieces.Even if you figure out the pattern quickly, chances are it'll keep you entertained for a good couple of hours if you're really interested in it. I gave one to a 12 year old and a 17 year old, and once they opened them up, they didn't put them down until they were finished. I got one for myself and my boyfriend also, and loved to put them together as a family. They are a great size, perfect to display on a bookshelf or a dresser when you are finished. Because the final piece snaps the whole thing together, it won't easily fall apart. These are a great gift for anyone any age, and a perfect family activity. :)

Cute and a fun challenge!
This was the first 3D puzzle I have completed in a long time, so it took a bit to get back into the swing of things. I love the Original 3D Puzzles, and have become addicted to completing them. We have a Golden Retriever, so we thought this would be a good addition to our decorations. The puzzle was easy to complete, once I got back into the swing of things. I found the pieces to be very hard to distinguish visually, and wished I had started the project on a lighter colored table (not brown) in a better lit area of my house. Once all of the pieces were together, it took a bit of fussing to get the post to lock in. The bowl that comes with it is cute, too. The puzzles are not proportional across the series, so the cat from the cat and kitten set and the dog are about the same size. The finished dachshund puzzle is about the same size as this puzzle. .

Incredibly challenging but worth it in the end. Great family activity. Age 6++
Prepared for a full 2-3 hours to put this doggie together. It is AMAZINGLY hard to put together and if you are holding it wrong (which you are guaranteed to do, at least 3-4x during the build) it all falls apart.Recommend taking photos as you go because there will be tears when it falls apart. The good news, when it is all together, you will all marvel at your achievement and it really is pretty cool when done.

Terrific fun
Bought a few of these and did this one fiirst. Took me a few hours of patient pondering, but as I love puzzles this was a great workout. Plan to buy more and fill my kitchen window sill with them - and to take them apart and put them back to gether again once a year to keep my mind is stil sharp.

A new twist on puzzles.
Bought this for my girlfriend for Christmas. She loved it. She's excited to try more from the series. Takes a lot less room to assemble one of these puzzles than a standard flat puzzle, so this would be a great option for those with limited table space.

One of the inner spine pieces is slightly too big. Needs to be filed down in order for the puzzle to sit properly.
